Purpose

Heal Link, collect Hot Spring Water

Games

Hot Springs are recurring locations in the The Legend of Zelda series. A favourite of Gorons, they regenerate Link's health while he is immersed in one. In some games, Hot Spring Water can be obtained from them by using a Bottle in order to thaw characters that are frozen.

Majora's Mask

In Majora's Mask, hot springs are used to collect Hot Spring Water, and it features three Hot Springs:

  • Twin Islands: The second one is located inside a Secret Grotto in the second of the Twin Islands.

Twilight Princess

Twilight Princess features two Hot Springs, used for scooping Hot Spring Water and recovering hearts:

Breath of the Wild

Breath of the Wild features a number of hot springs. There are several hot springs in the Eldin Province and the Hebra Mountains. Their thermal waters will replenish Link's Hearts if he's submerged waist-deep; unlike previous games, the spring water cannot be collected. Link can also make Hard-Boiled Eggs by throwing Bird Eggs into Hot Springs. Ice-Breath Lizalfos will sublimate if they come in contact with the hot spring waters.

Age of Calamity

In Age of Calamity there are a number of unnamed hot springs in the Eldin region where the player's characters can dunk into to recover hearts.

Trivia

  • Real-life hot springs are associated with geothermal volcanic activity, which is why springs in The Legend of Zelda series are located close to volcanoes like Death Mountain, or the high mountain ranges of Hebra in Breath of the Wild. The health-regenerative properties of hot springs in the games is also associated with the real-life reputation of hot-spring mineral water having health benefits.
