Breath of the Wild Side Quest Catalogue

Below is a listing of all 76 Side Quests found in the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Every Side Quest listed below links to a wiki page dedicated to it with a guide of requirements, a link to its location on the Interactive Map, and a mini-walkthrough of how to complete it.

Alternatively, you can browse our Interactive Map directly to get a slightly more spoiler-free listing of Side Quests, with only the “required information to start” listed on the tooltip, as well as any location-based objectives it will send you to. Click any of the Tower names to jump the map directly to that Tower. To help make the Side Quest icons more visible at higher zoom levels, select Side Quests as (one of) your active layer(s); if all layers are selected they are only visible when zoomed in close. (They also might be hidden behind other icons as well.) If you still need help, you can click the name of the quest in the map’s popup to open the wiki page for it directly from the map. And don’t forget, you can use the mark as completed feature to mark off sidequests you have already located!

The list below has been ordered by region, so you can browse for quests specifically available to you for the regions you have chosen to explore so far. If you’re looking for a specific quest, you can use the search feature on the Interactive Map, or even the search feature in the wiki, or just look for it below.

Note that Shrine Quests are included with their associated Shrine, and Main Quests are covered by our Breath of the Wild Walkthrough.

I think it might be a better idea to sort the side quests the same way they are being sorted ingame… First region and then in alphabeticall order. Makes it easier to find what quests you havnt done yet.

  • Thortok

I’ve given some thought to sorting. For instance, I thought about sorting by ‘requirements’, as in, “these have no requirements, these require this main quest, these require this main quest”, etc. And then sorting the no-requirements ones by region since there’d be many of those.

I will probably do that when I add the next batch of quests, which will be the Wasteland Tower region, as soon as I finish the shrines in that region.

Edit – Actually I’ve got a few minutes, I’m gonna do that now.

  • Thortok

Ultimately went with by region, but instead of alphabetical, they’re in vague order of ‘acquirability’. Check it out.

  • Thortok

Wasteland sidequests have been added. Next on todo list is Wasteland Korok Seeds, Faron Shrines, and then Faron sidequests.

  • Line Marie Barstad

Agree. Have done 75/76 side quests and it really isn’t easy figuring out which one I missed when every single guide has them in a different order than the game.

  • Thortok

I’m going to do some research and see if they’re listed in the same order for everyone at any point in your adventure and no matter what order you completed them in. If they are then I’ll use that order.

  • zelapher

is the side quest your missing the one in terrey town with the lady who needs monster cake.

  • Thortok

Faron sidequests have been added. Next on the list is Faron Seeds, Lake Shrines, and then Lake sidequests.

  • Line Marie Barstad

No, it was the shop lady in kakariko who wanted to see a bow man in action (although I swore I already did it)

  • Thortok

Lake sidequests have been added. Next on the list is Lake Seeds, Gerudo Shrines, then Gerudo sidequests.

  • Darren M Gomes

I haven’t run into Hestu since he left the road to Kakariko Village, is he at a specific stable after that? I need more weapons slots!

  • Thortok

Like Beedle and Kass, he tends to show up at every stable, although I didn’t see him at Dueling Peaks stable. I personally saw him at Wetlands and I’ve seen other people mention seeing him elsewhere.

  • Hestu does NOT appear at every stable like Thortok just mentioned. After seeing him outside of Kakariko, Hestu will be just outside of the Riverside Stable. The third place you see him will be in the Korok Village, which is within the Lost Woods.

  • Darren M Gomes

Thanks, I’ve been exploring the areas around the stables I’ve come across (I didn’t mean I expected him to be AT the stables, by the way), but not found any sign of him so far.

  • Thortok

So not every. But more than just the one, because people keep saying different things. I know for sure I saw him at Wetlands, and I’ve heard Lakeside and now Riverside.

This is why on the Korok page I say ‘various stables such as Wetlands’ cause it’s the only one I personally verified. =P

  • (NinJer)

You should post your list, it is more complete than anyone else and then we can find the one you’re missing.

  • Orysk

He for sure shows up at woodlands stable as well. I’ve seen him at 3 stables, working his way north.

  • Clumpy

Hey I have a question. For the sidequests in the regions you’ve already done, is that ALL the sidequests available in that region? For example in the 2 sidequests in Lake Tower region, is that actually ALL of the sidequests available in Lake Tower? Thanks!

  • Thortok

This is mostly all the sidequests, with one exception, in that in the Wasteland, there’s a sidequest which requires you complete 8th heroine first…and 8th heroine requires gerudo region which I haven’t done yet. So I haven’t been able to start that last ‘wasteland’ quest yet.

All other regions, yes, this is the final number for that region. So only 2 in Lake, yes.

  • Thortok

Gerudo Sidequests have been added. In this case the region has no sidequests of its own, but access allows completion of a Wasteland quest and in turn opens up another, so The Forgotten Sword added to the Wasteland region. Next on the list is Gerudo seeds, then Tabantha shrines, then Tabantha sidequests.

  • Super Cereal

another side quest to add is the “Legendary Rabbit Trial”

  • Thortok

Tabantha Sidequests have been added. Next on the list is Tabantha seeds, then Eldin shrines, then Eldin sidequests. The order of regions after that will be Akkala, Woodland, Ridgeland, Hebra, Central.

  • Thortok

Eldin Sidequests have been added. Next on the list is Eldin seeds, then Akkala shrines, then Akkala sidequests. The order of regions after that will be Woodland, Ridgeland, Hebra, Central.

Question: does lighting all the torches in Hateno or Akkala with the blue flame trigger anything? Or are they just there for our amusement?

  • Thortok

Other than that they seem to stay lit forever, I haven’t noticed anything. Or I haven’t lit them all.

  • Josh

Lighting the torches in each area will create a warp point for each area’s ancient tech lab. It also allows you to really begin to do anything with the tech labs; upgrades, interactions, etc.

  • Thortok

Incorrect, Josh (at least for Hateno but I’m assuming for Akkala too). What activates the warp point is lighting the forge.

What NJ was asking about was all the lanterns between the source of the fire and the forge; these are helpful for getting the flame to the forge but lighting every single one is not required (in fact I’m not sure but I don’t think you have to light any if you can run the whole way without putting your torch out). If you go back and look in Hateno for instance, there’s two paths; chances are you didn’t light the lanterns on the other path and you may have even skipped some on the path you did take. NJ was asking if you light EVERY lantern in the village, if anything happens, and to my knowledge nothing happens.

  • Kari DoRego

What about the side quest from Rito village?? The one about climbing the cedar tree.

  • Thortok

Shrine Quests are included with their associated shrine.

  • Kari DoRego

It’s a side quest not shrine. The kid tells you of his grandpa climbing the cedar tree in the mountain.

  • Kari DoRego

    Hebra mountains

  • Kari DoRego

Same kind of area.. “Under the Blood Moon” get naked and stand on the platform when the blood moon rises. New shrine pops up. This all stems from the Ridgeland tower area. I have not taken that tower yet as I killed off 2 wizzrobes and 3 Lizalfos and then the darn blood moon rose. :/

  • Kari DoRego

Lit up all of them in Hateno. Nothing happens. I think they’re there just in case your torch goes out.

  • Thortok

I’m not at home with the game right now but I’m 90% certain that’s a shrine quest. Like, I accidentally talked to the kid, realized the quest was for a shrine outside the region I’ve reviewed yet, and loaded a past save to undo accepting the quest so I would add it later.

If it does turn out to be a side quest, I’ll add it and put ‘to be continued’ like I’ve done for other side quests that require you to go to regions I haven’t reviewed yet.

  • Thortok

The game specifically differentiates between shrine quests and side quests; they are separate categories. Shrine quests are included with their associated shrine. See the shrines guide for those.

  • Cherry

That’s indeed a shrine quest. I did it yesterday.

  • Nowhere Man

Anything that directly provides access to a shrine is a shrine quest. It’s in the “Shrine Quests” category in the game.

  • Kari DoRego

Sweet. I haven’t gotten to it just yet. Will probably try tonight. Just got to the Flight Range. So, we shall see how that goes.

  • Kari DoRego

    A shady customer??

  • MissFluffy

Quick question: What the total number of side quests or is that not yet known?

  • Silent Kitten

There are 76 side quests in total.

  • Thortok

Akkala Sidequests have been added. Next on the list is Akkala seeds, then Woodland shrines, then Woodland sidequests. The order of regions after that will be Ridgeland, Hebra, Central.

  • Dadelus Roarer

I keep running across two people (a male and a female) in the area between the Central Tower and Outskirt Stable. They are usually fighting some monster near some ruins (the Exchange or Garrison) and seem to be in trouble. I go assist them and the male gives me food, but is there any other quest or side quest associated with these two, other than getting a bit of food?

  • SOMEGUY7893 .

They’re ruin scavengers that’s it you just get free food for helping them out.

  • Dadelus Roarer

    Thanx for the reply.
