However, in Death Mountain, the final dungeon of the game, it cannot be used to locate a Triforce Shard because Link has already collected them all. Instead, it is used to show where Princess Zelda lies in the dungeon via a blinking dot on the map. It is usually found at the beginning of the dungeon, to give players a sense of where to go.

Twilight Princess Compass has the exact same use as the compass in Ocarina of Time. It reveals Treasure Chests and the boss on the map, and shows Link's location. However, it has a more advanced use in this game; it will show Link the location of certain items in each dungeon, and this item depends on which dungeon Link is in. In the Forest Temple, it shows Link where each caged Monkey can be found. In the Snowpeak Ruins, the Compass will show Link the location of every Canonball in the dungeon. Also, in the Temple of Time, the Compass will show Link the location of the Ancient Statue that he requires the reach the Boss, Armogohma. And, last but not least, in the Palace of Twilight the Compass will shot Link the location of the two Sols. This Compass is by far the most useful one in the series.
The Compass in Twilight Princess again reveals Treasure Chests and the Boss on the map, and displays Link's location.

However, it has a more advanced use in this game; it displays the location of certain items in each dungeon, and this item depends on which dungeon Link appears in. The Compass is a recurring dungeon item in The Legend of Zelda series. It is generally used to indicate the Boss and Treasure Chest locations on Dungeon Maps.

The Legend of Zelda

The Compass in The Legend of Zelda displays Link's location on the minimap; and the location of the dungeon reward, in the room behind the boss, as a blinking dot. In Levels 1-8, this is the Triforce of Wisdom fragment; and in Death Mountain, it is used to show where Princess Zelda is imprisoned.

A Link to the Past

Compass sprite from A Link to the Past

The Compass in A Link to the Past displays the location of the Boss on the map. It also displays what floor Link and the Boss are on.

Link's Awakening

Compass sprite from Link's Awakening DX

The Compass in Link's Awakening displays the location of each Treasure Chest and the Nightmare. However, it also has a new feature; it beeps whenever Link enters a room with a Small Key.

Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask

Ocarina of Time (N64) menu icon

The Compass in Ocarina of Time displays the locations of all Treasure Chests in dungeons on the map. It also displays the location of the Boss. In addition, it displays Link's location on the minimap and also marks what door he entered from. It is identical in use and appearance to the Compass in Majora's Mask.

Oracle of Seasons & Oracle of Ages

The Compass in Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages tells Link where all Treasure Chests are located in each dungeon. It also displays where the Boss is located. Similar to the Compass in Link's Awakening, this version of the Compass beeps whenever Link enters a room that has a Small Key in it.

The Wind Waker

The Compass in The Wind Waker displays the locations of Treasure Chests and the location of the Boss. In the Tower of the Gods, the Compass also displays the locations of the Servants of the Tower. Similarly, in the Earth Temple and the Wind Temple, the Compass displays the locations of Medli and Makar, respectively.

The Minish Cap

The Compass in The Minish Cap displays the locations of Treasure Chests and the Boss.

Twilight Princess

Compass icon from Twilight Princess

The Compass in Twilight Princess again reveals Treasure Chests and the Boss on the map, and displays Link's location.

However, it has a more advanced use in this game; it displays the location of certain items in each dungeon, and this item depends on which dungeon Link appears in. In the Forest Temple, it displays where each caged Monkey can be found. In the Snowpeak Ruins, the Compass displays the location of every Cannonball in the dungeon. Also, in the Temple of Time, the Compass displays the location of the Ancient Statue that Link requires to reach the Boss, Armogohma. And, last but not least, in the Palace of Twilight, the Compass displays the location of the two Sols.

A Link Between Worlds

The Compass in A Link Between Worlds makes all unopened Treasure Chests in a dungeon appear on the map.
