Messages from an Ancient Era is a Side Adventure in Tears of the Kingdom.
Overview
After Link has completed a dungeon, a stone tablet falls on Lookout Landing. Wortsworth, a scholar, identifies it as ancient Hyrulean and leaves for Kakariko Village, where his research notes are.
On meeting Link again in Kakariko Village, Wortsworth explains what the tablet said, a contemporary history of the days of King Rauru's reign. He finds that tthe stone tablet is the first in a set of thirteen. He asks Link to photograph the others so he can translate them, and promises a reward for each tablet he brings a usable picture of, as well as explaining what they say. He also pins the pictures up on his wall, along with the translations and explanations.
When Link brings him the a picture of the final tablet, he also gives him the Zonai Survey Team fabric as a further reward.
Requirements
At least one dungeon must have been completed to make the quest available.
Walkthrough
All of these tablets start on star shaped sky islands, at the coordinates there should be a star shaped island above you. When stepping on the center to take a picture of the tablet several will detach and begin to fall to the ground. At least one will fall into a chasm directly below, others will just crash to the ground. If you're quick enough you can take the picture before the platform starts falling too fast. If you miss any of these, the tablet can be found below the star shaped sky island it started in, if in a chasm you may have to light the area to take the picture.
Many of the star sky islands can be reached by launching into the air using a Skyview Tower and gliding or paragliding to the sky island. Once you visit the island and take a picture of the writing on each tablet, return to Wortsworth in Kakariko Village. You can return with one picture at a time or multiple at once. He will pay a silver rupee for each one and read you the script then provide an interpretation. Afterward, he will post both versions on the walls of his lab for you to re-read as desired.

A priceless stone tablet engraved with ancient Hyrulean text has fallen from the sky into Lookout Landing. Wortsworth, a scholar of ancient Hyrulean, said he intends to decipher the text by comparing it to ancient documents left at the lab in Kakariko Village. He's departed for the village in the southeast.
It's become clear that there are 13 stone tablets documenting the age of legends. By deciphering all of them, one could learn about the lives of the royal family of that era, which was not documented in any history book. Capture the stone tablets in pictures, and show them to Wortsworth in Kakariko Village. You still need to capture [number].
You found all of the stone tablets and had Wortsworth decipher the ancient Hyrulean. Through these records of the ancient royal family, you got a glimpse of the thoughts and feelings of the people from that era. They seem to have left a deep impression on Wortsworth. |
