Type

The Abandoned Laborer is a Side Quest in Tears of the Kingdom.

Overview

Mota has been trapped in Death Mountain West Tunnel since the cart tracks over the lava went out. Link will need to send him flying out of the cave on a cart that can jump the gap.

Requirements

Having Yunobo of Goron City is very useful for clearing the sediment in the tunnel. You will also need fireproofing protection in the tunnel, either via a Fireproof Elixir or the Flamebreaker Set.

Walkthrough

  • Head to Death Mountain West Tunnel. Paraglide over the missing set of tracks or attach a rocket to one of the mine carts at the entrance to make it across. Talk to Mota to start the quest.
  • Break the sediment at the back of the cave to find an additional room containing the Bubbulfrog and various Zonai Devices stuck in the dirt including Fans and Rockets. There is also a treasure chest containing a Cobble Crusher among the half-embedded Zonai Devices.
  • Create a cart that can jump the gap. While not an elegant solution, a rocket on the middle of each side of the cart angled 45 degrees upwards and a fan on the back will shoot the cart upwards and forwards, scraping the cart along the ceiling until it reaches the entrance.
  • Talk to Mota to get him into the cart.
  • Hop in the cart and activate the devices fly over the lava to exit the cave and receive your reward.
