In Twilight Princess, Leevers are small, green monsters that pop out of the ground in packs. They attack by ramming into Link simultaneously. Leevers can be defeated by running over them while on horseback, or shooting them with a long-range weapon. It is also quite effective to perform a Spin Attack when a group closes in on Link. They are fairly simple enemies, and act more as an obstacle rather than a threat.
Leevers are first found in the Hyrule Field of the Eldin Province after Link has completed the Goron Mines. Additionally, they are later found in the Gerudo Desert and the gigantic fifty-floor dungeon, the Cave of Ordeals.

Leevers are recurring enemies in The Legend of Zelda series. They are sand-based enemies, and thus are usually found in deserts, like the Desert Colossus and the Gerudo Desert. However, they can also be found in Hyrule Field in Twilight Princess.
The Legend of Zelda
In The Legend of Zelda, Leevers can be found in many places across the Overworld, but can most often be found near the coastline or in sandy areas. Leevers, like most enemies, come in two different colors, Red and Blue.
To attack, a Leever pops out of the ground, often directly under Link, and moves towards him to contact him. Red Leevers pop out of the ground in front of Link and move towards him until they reach the edge of the screen. They then disappear back into the ground and pop out in front of Link again a second later. Blue Leevers appear randomly on the screen and remain above ground for a few seconds, then hide underground for another few seconds before re-emerging. Red Leevers only take two hits to defeat while Blue Leevers take four hits to defeat.
The Adventure of Link
Leevers only appear in the deserts of Eastern Hyrule. Like in The Legend of Zelda, Leevers burrow underground and emerge to attack. A few sword slashes while squatting or a Downward Thrust eliminate them in short order.

A Link to the Past
Leevers first appear within the Desert Palace in A Link to the Past. Several Green Leevers can be found in the sand-filled area as soon as Link enters the dungeon. These creatures pop up from underground and spin toward Link. After a period of time, the Leevers then burrow underground, before then coming back up at another location closer to Link.
Leevers usually come in large groups, but they should not be too much trouble for Link. Each Green Leever can be defeated with two simple sword slashes from Link's Fighter's Sword.
Purple Leevers can also be found throughout the Desert Palace. The only difference with Purple Leevers is that they move around the sand much quicker than their green counterparts. They still do the same amount of damage and still take just two sword slashes to defeat.
Link's Awakening
In Link's Awakening, Leevers appear on Toronbo Shores and Yarna Desert. Similar to in The Legend of Zelda, they pop out of the ground randomly and move toward Link.
