EX The Champions' Ballad is a Main Quest from Breath of the Wild, which requires the Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass DLC to access. It will trigger after Free the Divine Beasts is completed if the DLC has been purchased before completion, or immediately upon purchase if the quest is already done.
Requirements
- Purchase of the DLC
- Completion of all the Divine Beast Quests entailing:
- Accessing and completing the Divine Beasts dungeons;
- Defeating the Blights;
- Activating the Divine Beasts;
- Completion of the quests by talking to the quest givers Riju, King Dorephan, Kaneli and Bludo.
Objectives
One-Hit Obliterator trial
Zelda's voice speaks to Link and tells him to the Shrine of Resurrection and return the Sheikah Slate to the terminal where he found it. On doing so, the One-Hit Obliterator appears. This weapon will kill any enemy in one hit, but will also cause Link himself to die with any injury, however minor. The weapon can deliver two hits before it needs a recharge, and no other melee weapon can be equipped. The environment in the plateau also assumes an appearance of permanent night regardless of the hour, reducing visibility. In these conditions, he must unlock and complete four new shrines, each rewarding Link with a Spirit Orb, on the Great Plateau:
Leaving the Great Plateau will temporarily end the trial, and return the One-Hit Obliterator to the Shrine of Resurrection.
Once completed, the One-Hit Obliterator will apparently break apart, and orbs will go to four places; the temporary state of permanent night is lifted as well. As a result, four new quests will appear, with four spots highlighted on the Sheikah Slate map. All four of these quests must be completed to progress in the EX The Champions' Ballad quest.
EX Champion Revali's Song
- Main article: EX Champion Revali's Song
A pedestal with three obelisks, each showing a map location, appears directly south of Rito Village - between Cuho Mountain and Strock Lake - while Kass appears nearby to give further hints. Each of these locations involves unlocking a new shrine, which give one of Medoh's Emblems.
Once the shrines are completed, Link must go to Divine Beast Vah Medoh and exchange the Emblems for the chance to fight Windblight Ganon once more, this time in the Illusory Realm with limited equipment. Victory there will unlock the Champion Revali's Song Recovered Memory, upgrade Revali's Gale to Revali's Gale +, and finish the EX Champion Revali's Song quest.
EX Champion Daruk's Song
- Main article: EX Champion Daruk's Song
A pedestal with three obelisks, each showing a map location, appears beside Golow River, downsteam of Goron City and due west of the Goron Hot Springs, while Kass appears nearby to give further hints. Each of these locations involves unlocking a new shrine, which give one of Rudania's Emblems.
Once the shrines are completed, Link must go to Divine Beast Vah Rudania and fight Fireblight Ganon in the Illusory Realm with limited equipment. Beating the Blight again will unlock the Champion Daruk's Song Recovered Memory, upgrade Daruk's Protection to Daruk's Protection +, and finish the EX Champion Daruk's Song quest.
EX Champion Mipha's Song
- Main article: EX Champion Mipha's Song
A pedestal with three obelisks, each showing a map location, appears on Ja'Abu Ridge, while Kass appears nearby to give further hints. Each of these locations involves unlocking a new shrine, which give one of Ruta's Emblems.
Once the shrines are completed, Link must go to Divine Beast Vah Ruta and fight Waterblight Ganon in the Illusory Realm with limited equipment. Completing this will unlock the Champion Mipha's Song Recovered Memory, upgrade Mipha's Grace to Mipha's Grace +, and finish the EX Champion Mipha's Song quest.
EX Champion Urbosa's Song
- Main article: EX Champion Urbosa's Song
A pedestal with three obelisks, each showing a map location, appears on East Gerudo Mesa, while Kass appears nearby to give further hints. Each of these locations involves unlocking a new shrine, which give one of Naboris's Emblems.
Once the shrines are completed, Link must go to Divine Beast Vah Naboris and fight Thunderblight Ganon once more in the Illusory Realm with limited equipment. Finishing it again will unlock the Champion Urbosa's Song Recovered Memory, upgrade Urbosa's Fury to Urbosa's Fury +, and finish the EX Champion Urbosa's Song quest.
The Final Trial
- Main article: Final Trial
Once all four of the individual EX Song quests are finished, Link will be summoned back to the Shrine of Resurrection to the Final Trial, an unseen Divine Beast which blends the elements of all four other Divine Beasts. Completing this, and defeating Monk Maz Koshia in battle, completes the quest. This unlocks the The Champions' Ballad, the Picture of the Champions and the Master Cycle Zero.
Notes
- The DLC provides a second opportunity to obtain pictures of the Blights for the Hyrule Compendium, given the circumstance that pictures weren't taken before, and/or they aren't included for purchase from Symin at the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab.
