Basht is member of the Rito tribe, found on Dragon Roost Island in The Wind Waker.

Basht is one of the Rito who stand guard in the inside of Dragon Roost Island, within the Rito Aerie. When Link first arrives at the island, Basht can be seen guarding a passage on the first floor that leads out to the Dragon Roost Pond. Basht will comment that the bridge leading to Dragon Roost Cavern is out and that there is no way to get inside. He also suggests that Link is not able to swim across as the pond is completely dried up and there is no water. Although Basht doesn't seem too concerned, as he believes the Rito Chieftain will think of something.[1]

After Link has defeated Gohma in Dragon Roost Cavern, Basht can still be found guarding the same exit. He mentions that some of the Rito are still assessing the situation and doesn't recommend heading back to the dungeon.[2] Later when speaking with Basht, he'll congrulate Link on a job well done.[3]

Basht and Bisht have identical models, perhaps indicating that the two are twins. Even at nighttime, Basht guards the same passageway, telling Link that it is dangerous at night, so he needs to be extra careful.[4]

Birthplace: Dragon Roost Island
Occupation: Island police

Being extremely honest and sincere Ritos, they were chosen to be the island's police force. When you talk to them, they speak frankly about the events on the island.

  1. "If you want to get to Dragon Roost Cavern, I've got some bad news for you... The bridge is out. There's no way to even get inside. I'm sure you'll understand once you've seen it for yourself. As for swimming across, well... You need water for that, and the pond's all dried up... No need to panic, though! I'm sure the chieftain will think of something." — Basht, The Wind Waker.
  2. "You can go ahead and take a look at Dragon Roost if you want. They're still assessing the situation, though, so I wouldn't go inside. They're still checking to see if Dragon Roost is safe. Wait just a bit more, please." — Basht, The Wind Waker.
  3. "Ah, nicely done. You must be weary!" — Basht, The Wind Waker.
  4. "It's dangerous out at night, so be extra-careful." — Basht, The Wind Waker.
