— In-game description

Opals can be obtained from miscellaneous Chests in the game, from mining Ore Deposits, and it is also a common drop from the Stone Talus. Opal is one of the more common Gems found in the game, with only Amber being more common. It can be found abundantly in treasure chests early on in Link's quest, including on the Great Plateau, and in the Dueling Peaks Tower & Hateno Tower regions.

  • Underwater in the pond next to the Oman Au Shrine on the Great Plateau.
  • In the treasure chest in the ice lake, just outside the Keh Namut Shrine on the Great Plateau.
  • A reward at the Bokoblin camp at the north end of the Forest of Spirits on the Great Plateau.
  • A reward for defeating all the Bokoblin surrounding the Hopper Pond on the Great Plateau.
  • Behind the bombable wall down by the water, just west of the Temple of Time on the Great Plateau.
  • In a treasure chest at the northwest edge of the Great Plateau. Located on the ruins at the edge of the cliff.

There is a 5% possibility of finding an Opal by melting snowballs with fire[OP 1].
