Voltfin Trout is a type of fish found in Breath of the Wild, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and Tears of the Kingdom.

Breath of the Wild

"This trout makes its home in the freshwater lakes. Its scales have an insulating compound that, when cooked into a dish, offers resistance to electricity."

— In-game description

A Voltfin Trout can be eaten to recover 1 heart, or can be sold to shop-vendors all over Hyrule for 6 Rupees each.

Voltfin Trout can be used in many Recipes, and they have a cooking effect of electricity resistance. If cooked on an open flame by itself, Link will receive a Roasted Trout, which heals 2½ hearts but has no stat-boosting effect. If dropped onto the ground in freezing climates, Link will receive a Frozen Trout which has the added effect of low level heat resistance for 1:00 minute.

Age of Calamity

"This trout makes its home in the freshwater lakes. Its scales have an insulating compound that is said to offer resistance to electricity."

Voltfin Trout - TotK Compendium.png

"This trout makes its home in the freshwater lakes. Its scales have an insulating compound that, when cooked into a dish, offers resistance to electricity."

— In-game description

A small group of Voltfin Trout - totaling five fish - can be found near the island at the north end of the Hebra Plunge.

There are actually an endless supply of these fish at Hebra Plunge. Voltfin Trout, Chillfin Trout, and Hearty Salmon slowly fall from the waterfall that fills this area. They then migrate to different parts of the area.

To get them, make a crude fishing trawler using the four-log raft near the area mentioned above, along with the wooden planks and two fans nearby. You will also need capsules for a Shock Emitter and a Control Stick. Move the raft on land to a flat spot. Use Ultrahand to fuse the two planks into a wide L-shape and attach it to the front of the raft. The short vertical end should be against the raft (it will be out of center, thus the term “crude”) and the long end down and forward of the raft so that it touches the water. Turn it over and put the Shock Emitter on the underside tip of the long plank so that it will be in the water. Then, flip the raft over and add the two fans and the control stick to the log raft to complete the crude trawler. (Those familiar with the Yiga Fishing Trawler may consider this unnecessary, but the current in the lake is strong and needs two fans to fight against it.)

Using the crude trawler and a decently completed Energy Cell, slowly ply the water of the entire lake. Fish will pop up out of the water that you can swim to and collect. As the pieces for the trawler will not decay with time, you can indefinitely trawl and collect all the Voltfin Trout, Chillfin Trout, and Hearty Salmon you need, as the waterfall will replenish them.

Thirty Voltfin Trout are required as part of the cost of upgrading the Charged Set from ★★★ to ★★★★ - 10 each for the Charged Headdress, Charged Shirt and Charged Trousers.
