"Guardians were originally designed by an ancient civilization to combat Ganon, but these smaller models were placed inside shrines as part of the trials found within. The multiple legs and beam functionality were scaled down but kept mostly intact."

— Hyrule Compendium[1]

The Guardian Scout I is an enemy that appears in Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity.

Breath of the Wild

The Guardian Scout I is the most basic of the four types of Guardian Scouts found in the game and it can be found within Shrine of Trials and Divine Beasts. Link will encounter these initial Guardian Scouts when exploring the Oman Au Shrine and the Keh Namut Shrine, both located on the Great Plateau.

The Guardian Scouts looks, moves, and attack almost identically to a Guardian Stalker, except on a significantly smaller scale. It has only four legs and its laser attack is not nearly as devastating. Unlike the higher level Guardian Scouts, this basic model does not wield any weapons or shields, making it significantly easier to fight. Link can fight off a Guardian Scout with virtually any type of melee weapon or with a bow. Additionally, if Link allows the Scout to attack with its laser, Link can perform a Perfect Guard to reflect the attack back at the scout.

The Level 1 Guardian Scouts will drop Ancient Springs and Ancient Screws when they are defeated.

In Master Mode, all of the Guardian Scout I enemies that are found within the Shrine of Trials are replaced with Guardian Scout II enemies. However, the Scouts that are within the Divine Beasts are still their Level 1 versions.
