After freeing Naydra from the Malice, it will not start spawning in the world until the Seek Out Impa Main Quest has been completed or Link has freed the four Divine Beasts. Once one of these tasks is completed, Naydra will always spawn whenever the following conditions are met:
* It is between the hours of 7 PM and 7 AM.
* Link is in the Lanayru region.
* Naydra hasn't already spawned that day.

Naydra can drop four items, including Naydra's Scale, Naydra's Claw, Shard of Naydra's Fang, and Shard of Naydra's Horn.
Naydra will always spawn on its flight path a long distance away from Link and will leave after flying for 5 hours or if Link attacks it.

The fastest and most reliable method to farm items off Naydra is to go to the wooded area northeast of the Jitan Sa'mi Shrine on top of Mount Lanayru (cold protection recommended). If you have the Travel Medallion place it here. You can replenish wood here if you need. Drop a campfire and rest until morning then immediately glide northeast toward Tarm Point or Lodrum Headland. Naydra will be flying at the bottom of the mountain from the northwest. Drop down to get closer and shoot it, grab the item then teleport back. Rinse and repeat.
Naydra's flight path is a long loop with no set start point and it will leave before it can complete one full circuit. From the top of Mount Lanayru, Naydra circles the summit a few times before descending down the west side of the mountain over Naydra Snowfield, goes through Lanayru Road to the west gate, then returns back east along the north side of Lanayru Heights, goes down into Lanayru Bay, then follows the bay until Wintre Island where it climbs back up to the peak of the mountain and repeats the cycle.

Alternatively, if you don't have the Travel Medallion you can teleport to the shrine, rest until morning, then glide northeast towards Wintre Island to catch Naydra as it ascends the mountain. This takes slightly longer than the previous method as you have to cover more distance than just jumping from the northeast woods.
Naydra can only spawn once a day but since a new day starts at midnight, it is possible to make it spawn twice in one night.

Another recommended location to wait for Naydra is by the gateway to Mount Lanyru at around 5:00AM. It tends to circle the peak of the mountain before heading down through the Promenade. Catch an updraft from Naydra to get closer, then fire an arrow from the air. Note that Naydra may not spawn if you wait at the same location too many times in a row, or during adverse weather.

Another location is placing a fire under the East Gate of Lanayru Road, as it's a place far enough from Naydra's spawning point from where the spawning can be regularly observed; placing a fire under the archway prevents the wood from getting wet if it's raining. Once you've rested until morning, run/climb to the small rock peak directly south of the archway, which is the point closest to Naydra's path. It's important to climb fast, as the Lynel closeby may spot you if you linger for too long.
Naydra can drop four items, including Naydra's Scale, Naydra's Claw, Shard of Naydra's Fang, and Shard of Naydra's Horn.

— In-Game Description

Naydra is one of three dragons found in Breath of the Wild. It can be found roaming the area surrounding Mount Lanayru.

It is first encountered at the peak of Mount Lanayru covered in Malice.

Mechanics

After freeing Naydra from the Malice, it will not start spawning in the world until the Seek Out Impa Main Quest has been completed or Link has freed the four Divine Beasts. Once one of these tasks is completed, Naydra will always spawn whenever the following conditions are met:

 • It is between the hours of 7 PM and 7 AM.
 • Link is in the Lanayru region.
 • Naydra hasn't already spawned that day.

Naydra will always spawn on its flight path a long distance away from Link and will leave after flying for 5 hours or if Link attacks it.

Naydra can only spawn once a day but since a new day starts at midnight, it is possible to make it spawn twice in one night.

Drops and Uses

Naydra can drop four items, including Naydra's Scale, Naydra's Claw, Shard of Naydra's Fang, and Shard of Naydra's Horn.

Shrine Quests

Naydra is involved in The Spring of Wisdom shrine quest in order to uncover Jitan Sa'mi Shrine at Mount Lanayru. Link must remove the Malice accursing Naydra and procure a scale to drop in the Spring of Wisdom, which will open the door to the shrine.

Farming

The best place to farm Naydra is as it comes up the mountain. Go to the wooded area northeast of the Jitan Sa'mi Shrine on top of Mount Lanayru. Make sure you have some cold protection. If you have the Travel Medallion place it here. You can replenish wood here as well if you need it. Drop a campfire and rest until morning then immediately glide north-northeast toward Tarm Point or Lodrum Headland. Naydra will be flying at the bottom of the mountain from the northwest. Drop down to get closer and shoot it, grab the item then teleport back. Rinse and repeat.

Alternatively, if you don't have the Travel Medallion you can rest until morning at the shrine then glide northeast towards Wintre Island to catch Naydra as it ascends the mountain. This takes slightly longer than the previous method as you have to cover more distance than just jumping from the northeast woods but the items tend to drop more consistently around Wintre Island or the cliff at the base of the mountain where Naydra begins its ascent.

Trivia

 • It's not explained in-game how Naydra became blighted with Malice in the first place.
 • Naydra is the largest and mightiest creature in the game which has been blighted with Malice. In spite of the blight, Naydra remains inoffensive towards Link, instead trying to avoid being shot.
 • Once free from the Malice, if Naydra is shot for parts before reaching Lanayru Road, it'll turn back towards Mount Lanayru.
