"You found the Longshot! It's an upgraded Hookshot. It extends twice as far!"

The Longshot is a recurring Item in The Legend of Zelda series.

Ocarina of Time

In Ocarina of Time, the Longshot is the dungeon item of the Water Temple. It can be found in a Treasure Chest guarded by Dark Link, or at the beginning of the dungeon in the Master Quest. It resembles the Hookshot, but is purple instead of blue, and features an extension between the handle and hook that stores additional length of chain.

The Longshot replaces the Hookshot once obtained. It is an upgraded version of the item which can reach twice as far, enabling Link to grapple to objects and targets that the Hookshot couldn't reach. It can also be used to cross the broken bridge in Gerudo Valley, and the river of sand in the Haunted Wasteland.

Non-Canon Appearances

This section describes a subject that is or may be outside the core Zelda canon.

Cadence of Hyrule

"You got the Longshot! Assign it to A, B, X, or Y on the inventory screen. An upgrade on your old Hookshot, this item extends further and can stun more enemies!"

In Cadence of Hyrule, the Longshot can be found randomly in purple Treasure Chests after obtaining the Hookshot. It has been redesigned in this game, featuring a gold hook with two prongs, a gold chain, and a gold handle. It serves as an upgrade to the Hookshot, having increased range and being able to stun more enemies.
