Breath of the Wild In-Game Description

The Lightscale Trident is a spear found in Breath of the Wild and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity resembling the finest Zora architecture. It was used by Mipha until her death, and is later inherited by Link.

Appearances

Breath of the Wild

The Lightscale Trident has a very fast use time, with a power of 22 and durability of 70. Link obtains this weapon after saving Zora's Domain from the trouble caused by the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. It once belonged to the Zora Champion Mipha, but is gifted to Link by King Dorephan for his efforts. The Trident was first created by Dento as a present to the newborn Zora Princess[1].

If the Lightscale Trident breaks, it can be taken to Dento himself in Zora's Domain to have a replacement made in exchange for a Zora Spear, a Diamond, and five pieces of Flint[2].

According to Part Four of the History of the Zora, channeling her voice through the Lightscale Trident, Mipha purportedly gave post-mortem instructions to the Zora to cease their grief for her loss, a miracle that led them to venerate the Trident as sacred[3]. The Zora henceforth celebrate the Champions Festival in honor of Mipha. The hallowed nature of the Trident hints at why there's copies of it in the form of the Ceremonial Trident.

The Lightscale Trident is Mipha's initial and highest-level weapon, superseding Traveler's Spears and Zora Spears.

Tears of the Kingdom

The Lightscale Trident becomes obtainable once Link has finished the Sidon of Zora's Domain portion of the Main Quest, ending with the defeat of Mucktorok. Link can then go to Dento's shop behind the general store in Zora's Domain and talk to him to initiate the Glory of the Zora sidequest, where he will need to bring Dento a Zora Spear, three Diamonds, and five pieces of Flint to build the Lightscale Trident. These will be the required materials every time Link returns to Dento for further Lightscale Tridents, which he can only re-obtain after the previous Lightscale Trident has been broken or lost. The Lightscale Trident retains its base power of 22. Sidon also fights with it whenever his avatar is summoned and when alongside Link.
