The Skull Tower Idol is an optional item in the Trading Sequence of The Wind Waker. Like the Pinwheel, it can be skipped entirely when trying to obtain a Piece of Heart. It is carried in the Delivery Bag and can be placed in Joy Pedestals around Windfall Island.[1]
The Skull Tower Idol is originally obtained from the Traveling Merchant on Greatfish Isle. If Link shows him a Fountain Idol, he offers the Skull Tower Idol in exchange.[2] He also asks 60 Rupees in order to complete the transaction.[3] After they have traded, the merchant agrees to send shipments of the idol to Zunari's Shop. When Link next visits Windfall Island, Zunari is selling it for 60 Rupees.[4]
Once he receives the item from the Greatfish Isle merchant, he can trade it back with 60 Rupees for another Fountain Idol.[5][6] The Bomb Island merchant also offers a Fountain Idol for the Skull Tower Idol; however, he requires 65 Rupees.[7][8] Only the Mother and Child Isles merchant is different, selling a Big Sale Flag in exchange for the idol and 40 Rupees.[9][10]
Trivia
- Like the Pinwheel, the Skull Tower Idol is one of the few items that can only be received from one trade in The Wind Waker Trading Sequence. Because there is only one way to obtain it, it is easy to miss and can be skipped entirely.
