The Sword is a recurring Item in The Legend of Zelda series.

Overview

The Legend of Zelda

"IT'S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE! TAKE THIS."

In The Legend of Zelda, the Sword is located in a Cave on the starting screen; Inside, Link finds an Old Man who gives him the weapon, stating that it is dangerous to go alone. The sword bears a wooden blade, with a green cross-guard, pale yellow grip, and green pommel; However, its appearance changes with Link's tunic after he obtains the Blue Ring and Red Ring, respectively.

The Sword is the standard weapon in the game; Link can use it to perform stab attacks in front of him, damaging any enemies he hits. If Link is at full health, the Sword can fire Sword Beams with each stab. It can later be replaced with the White Sword, a more powerful sword.

Link's Awakening
