Template:Game The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures is a game for the Nintendo GameCube. It is the second game in The Legend of Zelda series to have multiplayer. Each player needed a Gameboy Advance and link cable to connect to the Nintendo GameCube. One player mode could also be used with both the GameCube and the Gameboy Advance, or just a GameCube controller could be used and the Gameboy Advance screen displayed on the main television. There are two separate ways to play Four Sword Adventures: Hyrulean Adventure and Shadow Battle. Hyrulean Adventure goes through the main storyline and can be played one player as well as multiplayer, and Shadow Battle is a free-for-all multiplayer.

Four Sword Adventures changed many things in the typical Zelda formula. Levels were now separated into areas, and were not part of a connecting overworld. Levels could also be redone multiple times on a single game file, something that had never been present in the series before.

Story

Prequel from the Manual

Long ago in the inner reaches of Hyrule, an evil wind sorcerer known as Vaati began kidnapping beautiful young maidens, one after another.

Nobody could stop Vaati, and the people of Hyrule despaired. Then, a brave young wanderer carrying only a single sword appeared.

When the young lad took out his sword, he split into four separate beings. The legends say that these four beings worked as one and defeated Vaati.

The wanderer, united once again, imprisoned Vaati deep in Hyrule and sealed the prison with his own sword. This place became known as the Realm of the Four Sword.

After that, a long time passed.

Then, the wind sorcerer Vaati broke out of his prison and then snatched Princess Zelda of Hyrule.

Zelda's childhood friend, a young boy named Link, claimed the strange power of the Four Sword and fought Vaati fiercely. In the end, he succeeded in sealing Vaati away once again.

And so, peace was restored to Hyrule once again.

Or so everyone thought...

Intro

One stormy day, Princess Zelda begins to worry about the seal upon the evil wind mage, Vaati. She invites her childhood friend Link to accompany her while she checks upon it with the six shrine maidens.

The maidens begin using their powers to check the seal on the legendary Four Sword. At first everything seems fine, but then a portal appears and a a shadowy version of Link appears. Suddenly, all of the maidens are trapped within crystals. Shadow Link jumps back into the portal, but Link follows him. The portal leads to the Four Sword Sanctuary. Even though Link knows that the seal upon Vaati would be broken, the Four Sword is his only hope of getting the maidens back, so he draws the sword. Link then splits into four different versions of himself.

Shadow Link disappears, and dark energy begins pouring out of the Four Sword pedestal, catching the attention of the four Links. A tornado sweeps them high up into the air, and Vaati appears.

Not only has Shadow Link sealed away the seven maidens, but Vaati's magic has robbed the power to defeat darkness from the Four Sword. The Links must rescue the maidens, all the while collecting Force Gems to restore the power of the sword.
