Orange Diaras do not throw their axes, but they only hack their axe continuously as their opponent draws near. They are particularly powerful, and should be fought with caution. It is best to do several hit and run tactics on the Orange Diara to avoid getting hurt.
Orange Daira
Orange Daira
Orange Dairas charge Link on sight swinging their axe continuously. Link must time his attack in between swings to avoid damage. The Reflect Spell will strengthen his shield enough to repel the monster's weapon.

Red Diara
Red Daira
Red Daira
Red Dairas are more powerful than their orange counterparts. Instead of charging forward, they throw a limitless stream of axes at Link. As with the Orange Daira, Link's shield cannot block the projectiles, except with the Reflect Spell. Downward Thrusts are recommended against these enemies. In order to defeat this formidable foe, Link must leap over the flying axes and quickly strike before another can be thrown. Recklessly charging without paying heed to the Daira's attacks is almost always fatal.

Red Dairas are more powerful than Orange Dairas. They can throw their axes at Link and it cause twice as much damage as the Daira itself. Link's shield cannot block their axe throws, and he can only blocked it with the Reflect Spell. Downward Thrusts are recommended against these enemies. Red Dairas probably the most powerful overworld enemy in all of Western Hyrule. So, fight it with caution.

In this game, Dairas are wearing an armor with cape, but not wield any weapons at all. They are one of the most common enemies that appear in Gargoyle's Domain, a Dark World dungeon. They also appear in the last dungeon of the game, Ganon's Tower and the bonus dungeon, Palace of the Four Sword. Their official English name was never released. But, their Japanese name is "Zazakku"; the same as the Japanese name for Dairas in The Adventure of Link. They come in two variation in this game; blue and red.

Daira wield large axes and will try to harm Zelda with them. There are two types of Daira, ones that are stationary, and others that run. The walking Daira are fairly simple enemies as they will walk straight towards Zelda, trying to smash her with their axe. You can defeat a Daira with a sword slash while standing straight up or while kneeling. Stationary Daira on the other hand stand in one spot instead of moving towards Zelda. Rather than swinging their axe, this Daira variant will toss the axe towards Zelda. Furthermore, if Zelda is at a higher level, the axe will be tossed in an upward direction. One way to defend against the axe throw is to stand still and block it with your shield. If you are quick enough to react, you can jump over the axe that is tossed your way.

Red Dairas are more dangerous than the blue variety, and they also able to spit fireballs at Link. Link can only blocked these fireballs with the Mirror Shield he obtains late in the game. Red Dairas also have twice more defense than the blue ones.
Most walking Daira will leave behind a red ruby, while their stationary counterparts will leave behind a more valuable green ruby. Walking Daira will often show up in packs and are also regularly found together with Arpagos. There are an unlimited number of walking Daira and they will keep appearing on the screen. On the flipside, there are a set number of stationary ones in fixed locations of certain levels.

Dairas are enemies from The Adventure of Link.[1]

The Adventure of Link

Dairas are hybrids of Hylians and alligators that wield powerful axes that can easily slice through Link's shield.[2][3][4] They can be found in Western Hyrule. Dairas come in two variations.

Orange Daira

Main article: Orange Daira

Orange Dairas charge Link on sight swinging their axe continuously. Link must time his attack in between swings to avoid damage. The Reflect Spell will strengthen his shield enough to repel the monster's weapon.

Red Daira

Main article: Red Daira

Red Dairas are more powerful than their orange counterparts. Instead of charging forward, they throw a limitless stream of axes at Link. As with the Orange Daira, Link's shield cannot block the projectiles, except with the Reflect Spell. Downward Thrusts are recommended against these enemies. In order to defeat this formidable foe, Link must leap over the flying axes and quickly strike before another can be thrown. Recklessly charging without paying heed to the Daira's attacks is almost always fatal.

The Wand of Gamelon
