Location

The Walrus is a character in Link's Awakening. He is a lazy animal that falls asleep in front of the path to Yarna Desert in the East of the Bay region. Many of the people in Animal Village complain about him.[1]

The Chef Bear mentions that the Walrus loves Marin's singing, so Link heads to Mabe Village, hoping that if he can convince her to sing the Ballad of the Wind Fish so that he will awaken.[2] Marin gladly accepts, and Link brings her to the East of the Bay.[3] She sings for the Walrus, who wakes up and jumps for joy.[4] He will then move out of the way so that Link can enter the desert.

If Link takes out his ocarina on the screen where the Walrus was first seen and plays the Ballad of the Wind Fish, the Walrus will poke his head out of the water, thinking that it was Marin singing.
