The River Devil is an enemy that appears in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

The River Devil is an enemy that acts more as an obstacle rather than an actual enemy. This blackened, spider-like creature blocks the single road that connects the northern and southern parts of Hyrule. The residents of the Nabooru are afraid of this creature.[1] The only way to pass him is to play the Flute that can be found in the Palace on the Sea.[2][3] After Link plays the Flute, the River Devil disappears and Link can continue in his quest.
