This is a list of key characters found in Breath of the Wild.
Champions
Link
- Main article: Link
Link, also known as the Hero of Hyrule, is the primary protagonist in Breath of the Wild. One hundred years prior to the game's current events, Link was chosen by the Master Sword to become wielder of the sacred blade and the one who would defeat Calamity Ganon. At the same time, Link was made Princess Zelda's appointed knight, and most of Link's memories entail his journeys during this time as Princess Zelda's protector.
Zelda
- Main article: Zelda
Zelda appears in Breath of the Wild, once again as the princess of Hyrule. From a young age, Zelda was scholarly and interested in research. This eventually transformed into a passion with the discovery of the Guardians and the Divine Beasts early in her life.
Daruk
- Main article: Daruk
Daruk was the Champion of the Gorons chosen to pilot the Divine Beast Vah Rudania before his death at the hands of Fireblight Ganon. He once lived in Goron City before his demise, and was considered a powerful warrior.
Mipha
- Main article: Mipha
Mipha was the former Champion of the Zoras chosen by Zelda to pilot the Divine Beast Vah Ruta before her death at the hands of Waterblight Ganon. She was the daughter of King Dorephan and older sister of Prince Sidon. She was also romantically interested in Link and created the Zora Armor for him. Mipha specialized in healing magic, but was also skilled with a spear and wielded the Lightscale Trident.
Revali
- Main article: Revali
Revali once lived in Rito Village and was considered one of the best warriors of his race. Before Calamity Ganon's return, he was chosen by King Rhoam and Princess Zelda to become the Rito Champion and pilot of the Divine Beast Vah Medoh. He was later killed when Thunderblight Ganon took over the Divine Beast.
Urbosa
- Main article: Urbosa
Urbosa was the Champion of the Gerudo, as the pilot of Divine Beast Vah Naboris. She was known for wielding the treasures of the Gerudo people, the Scimitar of the Seven and the Daybreaker shield. It is thought that Riju is a descendant of Urbosa.
Plot-Related Characters
Impa
- Main article: Impa
Impa can be found in Kakariko Village, after surviving the Calamity 100 years ago, where she awaits Link, in the presence of her granddaughter Paya. After Link's Sheikah Slate's functionalities are restored, she assists him in recovering his long-lost memories stored in the slate.
Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule
- Main article: Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule
King Rhoam was the "Last King of Hyrule" and the father of Princess Zelda. A century ago, King Rhoam, aided by the four Champions and the Divine Beasts, attempted to stop Calamity Ganon from destroying the world, but was unsuccessful. In the present day, he, as a spirit, teaches Link his history atop the Temple of Time.
Yunobo
- Main article: Yunobo
Link first meets Yunobo after saving him from a cave located in the Abandoned North Mine. Yunobo was in the mine to collect some painkiller's for the Goron Boss, Bludo, as his back issues were complicating. Yunobo is grateful for Link rescuing him, and he returns to Goron City. Yunobo later assists Link in climbing Death Mountain, and taking down the Divine Beast Vah Rudania.
Sidon
- Main article: Sidon
Prince Sidon is the son of King Dorephan of the Zoras and younger brother to Mipha, the Zora Champion. Link first meets Sidon at the base of Zora's River, where he asks for assistance in calming the Divine Beast Vah Ruta.
Teba
- Main article: Teba
Teba is a Rito Warrior, and the husband of Saki. He spends most of his time training his aerial combat at the Flight Range. Teba helps link in taking down the barrier surrounding the airborne Divine Beast Vah Medoh, and eventually boarding the beast itself.
Riju
- Main article: Riju
Makeela Riju became chief of the Gerudo after her mother passed away. Though she is considerably young for a chief, she is respected by her people. Following the line of succession, it is thought that she is a direct descendant of Urbosa She helps Link defeat the Divine Beast Vah Naboris after he retrieves the Thunder Helm from the Yiga Clan Hideout. She is very fond of Sand Seals, and has one named Patricia, with her bedroom containing three Sand Seal plush dolls. Buliara is her personal body guard and is extremely protective of her.
Bludo
- Main article: Bludo
When Link first meets Bludo, he finds the Goron Boss inflicted with back pain and upset at the annoyance Divine Beast Vah Rudania has been causing on Death Mountain. He asks Link to find Yunobo at the Abandoned North Mine and retrieve the painkillers he needs to take on the Divine Beast. Later, Link discovers that Bludo raised the Bridge of Eldin in attempt to stop Rudania from getting closer to city below.
King Dorephan
- Main article: King Dorephan
Dorephan is the current leader of the Zora, who make their home in the Lanayru region. He had two children, Mipha and Sidon, though the former passed away fighting the Calamity 100 years ago. In the present day, he rules over his domain in a benevolent manner, though he fears the power of the Divine Beast. He also gifts Link the Zora Armor, which was crafted to fit Link a century ago.
Kaneli
- Main article: Kaneli
Kaneli is the Elder of Rito Village, in the Tabantha region. Link first meets Kaneli at the very top of the village, resting in his rocking chair. Once learning that Link is there to help neutralize the Divine Beast Vah Medoh, he directs him to the Flight Range, in order to meet Teba.
Master Kohga
- Main article: Master Kohga
The leader of the Yiga Clan, a group formed with just a single objective: eliminate Link. He sends his minions all over Hyrule in search of you but tends to spend most of his time napping and generally loafing about. Despite this, his mastery of the esoteric arts has earned him a deep respect. Even if he were to die, his followers would never give up on their one and only task.
Minor Characters
Paya
- Main article: Paya
Paya is the granddaughter of Impa, living with her in Kakariko Village. She spends most of her days tending to her home, and often writes entries into her diary. It is known that she has a birthmark in a rather embarrassing location...
Purah
- Main article: Purah
Purah is the director of the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab, working with her partner Symin. She helps Link to restore some essential functions of the Sheikah Slate, including the Camera Rune and Hyrule Compendium. Both herself and Symin take a great interest in ancient Sheikah technology, and are always experimenting with ways to utilize long-lost powers. She took part in an experiment to keep people younger, but it backfired on her and she drastically became younger herself.
Symin
- Main article: Symin
Symin is the partner of Purah at the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab. He helps Link to restore some essential functions of the Sheikah Slate, including the Camera Rune and Hyrule Compendium. Both Purah and himself take a great interest in ancient Sheikah technology, and are always experimenting with ways to utilize long-lost powers.
Robbie
- Main article: Robbie
Robbie is the director of the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab, in the extreme north. Similar to those in Hateno, he takes a great interest in the ancient Guardians, and ways to craft some ancient gear, with the help of his robot Cherry. He helps Link to create some of these ancient tools, such as arrows, weapons and even armor.
Muzu
- Main article: Muzu
Muzu is a Zora attendant at their domain in the Lanayru region. He once taught Mipha and Sidon when they were children. In the present day, he serves the king, and acts as an adviser, though he distrusts Link due to the unforeseen death of Mipha a century passed. Because of this, he refuses to accept Link's assistance, and slyly suggests he fights the Lynel at the peak of Ploymus Mountain to secure some Shock Arrows.
Buliara
- Main article: Buliara
Buliara is the guard of the Gerudo Chief, Riju. She is rather protective of the young leader, especially since the Thunder Helm, an ancient Gerudo treasure, was stolen from the town by the vicious Yiga Clan. She eventually comes to trust Link, even after learning he is a Hylian man.
Kass
- Main article: Kass
Kass is a wandering Rito minstrel who can be found in some unusual locations all over Hyrule. He can be found at some stables, Gerudo Tower, in the deep Faron Woods, and even on the top of a stack in Kitano bay. One thing is always present though: his trusty accordion. He teaches Link old crypic poems, most of which lead to hidden Shrines.
Beedle
- Main article: Beedle
The ever-bizarre Beedle can be seen travelling all over the place, particularly close to Stables, but he has been spotted elsewhere. He becomes essential during Link's quest, providing reasonably priced goods, including arrows and crucial materials to craft elixirs and meals.
Kilton
- Main article: Kilton
The most famous monster enthusiast in all the lands. Kilton can first be found on the lower eye at Skull Lake. After this first encounter, he will visit many towns and villages all over Hyrule, but only during the nighttime, and sells Link various monster-related memorabilia. He has even invented his own currency!
Bolson
- Main article: Bolson
Bolson is the boss of the aptly-named Bolson Construction, and can be found working with his employees demolishing a house in Hateno Village.
