Breath of the Wild
A Soldier's Armor has a base defense of 4, and can be purchased at the Ventest Clothing Boutique in Hateno Village for 250 Rupees. The majority of the armor is constructed of metal, although this does not mean it will attract lightning.
Armor Set
The Soldier's Set (also including Soldier's Helm and Soldier's Greaves) offers no bonus.
Enhance Path
Enhancing Armor requires that you have unlocked as many Great Fairy Fountain as the desired star-level.
