The Goron Mines is the second Dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It is located close to the top of Death Mountain, and most of it is actually inside the mountain. Because it is inside the mountain (which is also an active volcano), much of it is filled with lava and fire. Link is searching the Goron Mines in hope of finding the second Fused Shadow. He is told it is in there by the Light Spirit Eldin.

This dungeon houses three of the four Goron Elders. Link is told by Gor Coron that the three elders in the mines hold the three Key Shards, which when combined create the key to the room that Darbus has been locked into. Link travels through the dungeon looking for the three elders. After he finds the second elder, he is told that he needs the Goron Treasure to get to the room Darbus is being hold in. He meets the gaurdian of the treasure, Dangoro, and fights for the right to get the treasure. He wins, and collects the Hero's Bow. He uses the Hero's Bow to find the final Goron Elder. He combines the shards and opens the door to the room where Darbus lies. He will soon find not Darbus, but the dungeon Boss, Fyrus.

Enemies

Here are all the enemies found within the Goron Mines.

Dangoro

The Mini-boss of the Goron Mines is Dangoro, the guardian of the Goron Treasure. He is as arrogant as any other Goron Link will talk to, all of them dismissing the thought of a human defeating them in a contest of strength. The battle against Dangoro takes place on a metallic platform that floats atop lava. The fact that the platform is metallic is very helpful to Link, as he can equip the Iron Boots and never have to worry about falling into the lava. If Link can use the Iron Boots and his own strength to knock Dangoro off the platform into the lava three times, Dangoro will be amazed at Link's strength, and therefore admit defeat. He will then proceed to grant Link entrance to where the Hero's Bow lies.

Twilit Igniter: Fyrus

Fyrus, the Boss of the Goron Mines

The Boss of the Goron Mines is known as Twilit Igniter: Fyrus. Link has been told by the four Goron Elders that Darbus, the goron patriarch, lies in a room in the depth of the dungeon. Link was obviously expecting a Goron to be in the room, but instead he sees a giant figure, some 20 feet tall, that has a pitch black body, whom is known as Fyrus. Fyrus seems to sense Link in the room, as he will awake with lots of yelling. He will then notice that he is confined by chains on both his arms and legs. He breaks the shackles, almost showing off to Link his enormous power. His body will then light on fire, even further attempting to strike fear in the heart of Link. In order to defeat Fyrus, Link must use the Iron Boots, and the Hero's Bow. The floor in the room is metallic, allowing Link to be attached to the floor with the Iron Boots. The Hero's Bow is used to distract Fyrus by shooting his weak spot, an orb-like object on his forehead. Link must shoot the orb, and then use the chains attached to his legs to pull him down. This allows Link a route to the orb, which he can now strike with his Sword. After a decent amount of hits, Link can use the first Hidden Skill that the Hero's Shade taught to him, the Ending Blow, to finish Fyrus once and for all. All of Fyrus' black skin will explode off of him and form the second Fused Shadow. Now that the Fused Shadow has left Fyrus, he becomes Darbus, a giant Goron that has a huge head and ginormous shoulders.

Dungeon Items

The Goron Mines feature the main four Dungeon Items that every Dungeon in Twilight Princess has; the Dungeon Map, the Compass, the Big Key, and the Small Keys.

Dungeon Map

The Dungeon Map is used to show Link exactly how the dungeon is laid out. It comes in handy if Link ever gets lost while searching through a dungeon. The Dungeon Map can be found in the first Goron Elders' room. After collecting the first Key Shard from Gor Amoto, Link will be able to see a Treasure Chest behind Gor Amoto. Inside the chest lies the Dungeon Map.

Compass

The Compass is used to show Link the location of each and every Treasure Chest found in the dungeon, as well as the location of the Boss. It is found in one of the first rooms Link will encounter after acquiring the Hero's Bow. The room is full of Beamos, which Link can now defeat with the Hero's Bow. The Compass is behind one of the Beamos in a Treasure Chest.

Big Key

The Big Key is used to open the door that leads to the dungeon boss, Fyrus. It has been spilt into three pieces by the Goron Elders. Each Goron Elder that is in the mines has a piece, so Link must travel to each one and get the three pieces. After collecting all three pieces, Link can combine them to create the Big Key.

Small Keys

There are three Small Keys found throughout the Goron Mines. They are all used to open certain locked doors that block Link's path through the dungeon. They are all found in a Treasure Chest.

Treasure Chests

There are seventeen (17) Treasure Chests waiting to be found in the Goron Mines. These chests all contain a variety of different items that will help Link as he further travels the dungeon and the game, including Rupees, Dungeon Items, Pieces of Heart, and Equipment.

Rupees

There are plenty of chests that contain rupees in the Goron Mines, nine (9) to be exact. Two of these chests contain a Yellow Rupee, which are worth 10 rupees. Three of the chests contain a Red Rupee, which is worth 20 Rupees. The remaining 4 chests located in the Goron Mines contain a single Purple Rupee, which is worth 50 Rupees. Combine these rupees with the ones Link will scoop up from barrels or from enemies, is it likely Link's Wallet will be full before the end of the Dungeon. Using Ooccoo and Ooccoo Jr. to leave and spend some Rupees is recommended.

Dungeon Items

Of the four Dungeon Items, three of them are found in Treasure Chests throughout the Dungeon. The Dungeon Map is, the Compass is, and the Small Keys are all found in a Treasure Chest. The Big Key is the only one that is not found in a Treasure Chest.

Pieces of Heart

As with every other Dungeon in Twilight Princess, Link can find two Pieces of Heart in the Goron Mines. Both Pieces of Heart require the Iron Boots to collect. For details on their respective locations, go to this page.

Equipment

There is but a single Treasure Chest throughout all of the Goron Mines that contains equipment. This chest contains the Hero's Bow, the Dungeon Item. It is located in the room directly after the Mini-boss room. It serves as the reward for beating the Mini-boss, Dangoro.
