"These female deer are often found alongside a male. They're very timid animals by nature, but they tend to let their guard down when eating apples, a favorite food. This tidbit of information can be useful to hunters."

— Hyrule Compendium Entry

A Mountain Doe is an animal found in Breath of the Wild. They look fairly similar to the Mountain Buck, but lack the large antlers. They can be found in forests and fields, and are easily startled. Albeit uncommon, it's possible to spot both Does and Bucks in places like the mountains of Hebra.

Mountain Does are the smallest animals Link can ride in the game, but they cannot be registered at a stable. Does are very skittish and perceptive, and being herd animals, they may be alerted of Link's presence if bucks and/or other does see Link.

As part of the quest Good-Sized Horse, the Mountain Doe cannot be sold to Zyle, as he refuses to buy it since it's not a horse. Similarly, Mountain Does are not a valid option for The Crowned Beast shrine quest, which necessarily requires riding a Mountain Buck; this is, despite the fact that Does are more numerous than Bucks.
