Template:Dungeon

The Forest Temple is the first dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It is located at the end of Faron Woods, where a spiderweb is blocking the entrance. After restoring light to the Ordona Province, the Light Spirit Faron tells Link that he needs a dark power, the Fused Shadows, in order to defeat Zant, the alleged King of Twili. The Fused Shadows have been scattered across Hyrule, and the first rests in the Forest Temple.

This temple is home to numerous monkeys, including the leader, Ook, who has been possessed. After rescuing four of the monkeys from every corner of the dungeon, Link can swing to the home of Ook and fight him. Once defeated, Ook doesn't die, but instead the bug-like being that possessed him dies. Ook runs away and leaves behind the Gale Boomerang. Using the Gale Boomerang, Link rescues the rest of the monkeys and gains access to the boss, Diababa.

Enemies

Being the first Dungeon of the game, the enemies found throughout the Forest Temple are some of the most basic enemies in the entire game. Most are easily defeated with a single swing of Link's Sword. The enemies found are listed below.

Deku Baba

Keese

Keese from Twilight Princess

Baba Serpent

Skulltula

Walltula

Bombling

Tile Worm

Deku Like

Big Baba

Bokoblin

Ook

The Mini-boss battle against Ook is a fairly easy one. He will use the Gale Boomerang to release Baba Serpents that were hanging from the ceiling. They can get fairly annoying throughout the fight, but luckily they can be killed in one hit. Ook's strategy in this battle will be to jump from pillar to pillar, occasionally throwing the Gale Boomerang at Link. When he stops to throw the boomerang, it is Link's chance to get him off of it. If Link rolls into the pillar Ook is on, he will tumble down giving Link a chance to attack. Hit Ook's rear end with a Jump Attack and then a Spin Attack. After a decent amount of hits, Ook will faint and a spider-like being will jump off his back and die. Ook will then appear to be very confused as to his surroundings, and once he sees Link he will proceed to exit the room and leave behind the Gale Boomerang for Link to collect.

Twilit Parasite: Diababa

The Boss of the Forest Temple is known as Diababa. It is a fairly easy boss, whom can be defeated by using the Gale Boomerang to send bombs into its face and then slashing its eye with Link's sword. Ook actually comes back and helps Link with this battle by holding Bomblings for Link to lock onto with his Boomerang after Diababa had destroyed the ones surrounding the area. After Link defeats it, he is gifted with the first part of the Fused Shadow and a Heart Container.

Dungeon Items

This temple holds much of the same items featured in dungeons throughout the Zelda series. These items include Small Keys, the Dungeon Map, the Compass, and the Big Key.

Dungeon Map

The Dungeon Map is a very useful item, one of the more useful items in the game. It will show Link the entire make-up of the dungeon he is currently in. The Dungeon Map is found in the second room from the start of the dungeon. At the top of the stairs, Link will see four unlit torches. If he lights them all up with his Lantern, stairs will appear in front of him, allowing him to reach the platform on the other side. There is a chest on the platform to the left. It holds the Dungeon Map.

Compass

The Compass is one of the most useful items in the game. It will show Link the location of every treasure chest, every trapped monkey, and the location of the boss. It is found in the second room of the dungeon, the same room the Dungeon Map is in. The Gale Boomerang is required to get the compass, as the chest that houses it is suspended in midair by a spiderweb. The Gale Boomerang is the only item that Link can use to cut the web, allowing him access to the chest.

Big Key

The Big Key is the one and only key that can be used to open the entrance to the Boss Chamber. From the start, go through the first room and enter the second room. Go up the stairs and go left over the gap using a monkey. Follow the path until Link reaches a gate. Use the Gale Boomerang to activate the windmills in a certain order specified by the pattern on the floor. Open the chest that lies beyond the gate for the Big Key.

Small Keys

There are four Small Keys that can be found throughout the Forest Temple. Three of them can be found in a Treasure Chest, while the other one can be collected by defeating a Big Baba. The keys are used to either open an individual monkey's jail cell, or to unlock a door to advance further in the dungeon.

Treasure Chests

Throughout the Forest Temple, there are 14 Treasure Chests that can be found throughout the dungeon. They contain many different items that include Rupees, Dungeon Items, and Pieces of Heart.

Rupees

Out of the 14 Treasure Chests in the Forest Temple, 6 of them contain Rupees. Link can find 3 chests that contain a Yellow Rupee, which is worth 10 Rupees. The other three are all Red Rupees, which are worth 20 Rupees.

Dungeon Items

There are four different Dungeon Items found in the Forest Temple. These include 1 Dungeon Map, 1 Compass, 1 Big Key, and 4 Small Keys. Six of these items can be found in Treasure Chests throughout the Dungeon. The only one that is not found in a Treasure Chest is one of the Small Keys, which is found on the floor after defeating a specific Big Baba.

Pieces of Heart

Two Pieces of Heart can be found in the Forest Temple. These are the second and third Pieces of Heart that can be found in the game. For details on their locations, visit this page.
