The Triforce of Courage is one of the three pieces of the Triforce in the The Legend of Zelda series. It embodies the power of Farore, one of the Goddesses who created Hyrule. Farore created the creatures to uphold the law created by Nayru, another Goddess who helped create Hyrule.
Unlike the other pieces of the Triforce, the Triforce of Courage did not appear in The Legend of Zelda. It was introduced in The Adventure of Link.
Appearances
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Link obtains the Triforce of Courage from the Great Palace. Link uses this along with the Triforce of Power and Triforce of Wisdom to awaken the sleeping Princess Zelda.
A Link to the Past
After defeating Ganon, Link uses the full Triforce to bring peace to Hyrule.
Ocarina of Time
After Link opens the Door of Time and removes the Master Sword from its pedestal using the Spiritual Stones and the Ocarina of Time, Link is sealed away within the Sacred Realm for seven years. Ganondorf uses this opportunity to enter the Sacred Realm and claim the Triforce as his own. However, upon touching the sacred relic, it splits itself into three pieces. The Triforce of Power stayed with Ganon, while the Triforce of Wisdom and the Triforce of Courage went to Princess Zelda and Link, respectively.

Link travels to the castle holding the Triforce which informs Link of his destiny in Holodrum and Labrynna.

Link must obtain the Triforce of Courage to gain access to the land of Hyrule underneath the Great Sea. The Triforce of Courage had been split into pieces and scattered across the floors of the vast ocean. Link must find Triforce Charts and have them deciphered by Tingle for an outrageous price in order to discover their location. After successfully rescuing all Seven Sages from their portrait prisons, the Sages entrust Link with the Triforce of Courage.
