Link has to complete the fishing sidequest in order to obtain the third Heart Container from the [[Old Wayfarer]].
Link has to complete almost the entirety of the Fishing Side Quest to obtain this Heart Container. Refer to our [[Phantom Hourglass Fishing|Fishing Guide]] for the full step by step process.
 
Link will first need to get the [[Fishing Rod]] by uniting [[Joanne]] with the [[Old Wayfarer]]. He will then need to catch a [[Skippyjack]], a [[Toona]], and a [[Lover]]. These fish must then be shown to the Old Wayfarer. He will give Link the [[Big Catch Lure]]. This allows Link to catch [[Rusty Swordfish]]. After showing a Rusty Swordfish to the Old Wayfarer, and he will till Link about the legendary fish, [[Neptoona]]. Once Neptoona is captured and shown to the Old Wayfarer, the Old Wayfarer will give Link the Heart Container.}}

Phantom Hourglass features 13 Heart Containers scattered across the World of the Ocean King, giving Link a maximum of 16 Heart Containers to Link's health. Of the 13 Heart Containers Link can find, 7 of them are found as rewards for defeating the various bosses at the 7 Temples scattered around the world. There are then 6 additional Heart Containers to find. Below is listing of all the heart containers, in order that you can acquire them.

    Heart Container #1

    Location: Temple of Fire

    Conditions: Defeat Blaaz

    Given to Link as an award after defeating Blaaz, the boss of the Temple of Fire.

    Heart Container #2

    Location: Masked Shop

    Conditions: 1500 Rupees

    Purchased from Masked Beedle for 1500 Rupees at the Masked Shop. The Masked Shop only shows up at certain times during the day. It appears from 10PM - 12AM on Weekdays and 10AM - 12PM Weekends.     Heart Container #3

    Location: Bannan Island, Old Wayfarer's Hut

    Conditions: Fishing Rod, Big Catch Lure

    Link has to complete almost the entirety of the Fishing Side Quest to obtain this Heart Container. Refer to our Fishing Guide for the full step by step process.

    Link will first need to get the Fishing Rod by uniting Joanne with the Old Wayfarer. He will then need to catch a Skippyjack, a Toona, and a Lover. These fish must then be shown to the Old Wayfarer. He will give Link the Big Catch Lure. This allows Link to catch Rusty Swordfish. After showing a Rusty Swordfish to the Old Wayfarer, and he will till Link about the legendary fish, Neptoona. Once Neptoona is captured and shown to the Old Wayfarer, the Old Wayfarer will give Link the Heart Container.

    Location: Traveler's Ship

    Requirements: Hoiger Howgendoogen must be fought four times before this.

    The fourth Heart Container is obtained from Hoiger after hitting him 100 times without getting hit, and without striking him too hard.

    Heart Piece #5

    Location: Temple of Wind

    Requirements: Defeat Cyclok

    The fifth Heart Container is obtained after defeated the boss Cyclok in the Temple of Wind.

    Heart Piece #6

    Location: Temple of Courage

    Requirements: Defeat Crayk

    The sixth Heart Container is obtained after defeated the boss Crayk in the Temple of Courage.

    Heart Piece #7

    Location: Molida Island, Romanos' Hut

    Requirements: Bow, completed Temple of Courage.

    The seventh Heart Container is obtained by playing the Shooting Range mini-game. Link must score over 2,000 points to win the Heart Container.

    Heart Piece #8

    Location: Ghost Ship

    Requirements: Defeat the Cubus Sisters

    The eighth Heart Container is obtained by defeating the Cubus Sisters.

    Heart Piece #9

    Location: Goron Temple

    Requirements: Defeat Dongorongo

    The ninth Heart Container is obtained after defeating the boss Dongorongo.

    Heart Piece #10

    Location: Island Shop

    Requirements: 2,000 Rupees

    The tenth Heart Container can be bought from any Island Shop. It appears after the Bombchu Bag is bought. It costs 2,000 Rupees.

    Heart Piece #11

    Location: Temple of Ice

    Requirements: Defeat Gleeok

    The eleventh Heart Container is obtained after defeating the boss Gleeok.

    Heart Piece #12

    Location: Maze Island

    Requirements: Boomerang, Bow, Grappling Hook, Bombs

    After going through the maze by using many items, Link can open a Treasure Chest with the twelfth Heart Container

    Heart Piece #13

    Location: Mutoh's Temple

    Requirements: Defeat Eox

    The thirteenth, and final Heart Container can be obtained after defeating the boss Eox.
