— In-Game Description[1]

The Whimsical Ring is a Magical Ring that Link can obtain in Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. It can only be acquired by bumping into Maple or within a Gasha Nut.

In Oracle of Ages, the Whimsical Ring can be found in a treasure chest located in the Zora Seas. From the Gale Tree in Zora Village in the past, Link can swim down one screen and right three screens. After surfacing on the small island, he can play the Tune of Ages to reach the present. From there, Link can dive underwater and swim right a screen. After resurfacing, he can open the treasure chest to get the Magical Ring, which will appraise as the Whimsical Ring.

When equipped, the Whimsical Ring will have a random effect on Link's sword power. On most sword slashes, it will only do one unit of damage (for comparison, the Wooden Sword normally does two units of damage). However, there is a 1 out of 256 chance that there will be a deadly strike, instantly killing the enemy.

Given the incredibly low success rate, the Whimsical Ring is not advised as a ring to be worn. There are other power based rings that are more valuable when equipped, in particular the Power Ring L-1 or the rare Red Ring.
