Teli is a character in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Breath of the Wild

Teli is a traveling treasure hunter and merchant who deals in Ancient Materials. He lives in Hateno Village, but travels along the path all the way to Fort Hateno. He goes out that way to collect ancient materials from the Guardian remains found near Fort Hateno.[1] Teli is quite vain, referring to himself as having roguish good looks.[2]

He does have knowledge of Ancient Parts and does business with the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab, all the way at the northeast part of Hyrule, claiming that it is half of his business.[3] However, Teli sometimes wonders what the researchers around Hateno do all day long.[4] Teli even speculates that perhaps the scientist at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab is using the guardian parts to repair guardians.[5] He is always around Ancient Materials, so much so that the smell of grease that is on the materials follows him around.[6]

Teli will give Link directions, depending on where he is, including how to get to Fort Hateno.[7] Unlike many other travelers, Teli does not have any weapons with him and will run away if enemy Bokoblin or Stalkoblin appear.[8][9]

When Teli arrives at Hateno Village, he will make his way over to The Great Ton Pu Inn where he will sit down and take a break before venturing off back to Fort Hateno. While Teli is a treasure hunter, he does have some knowledge about the Guardians, knowing that they were created to help defend people.[10]

Tears of the Kingdom

Early on, Teli can be found alongside Agus, Joute, and Endai at Batrea Lake, just east of the Owlan Bridge. The group is on their way to the Riverside Stable, but stopped due to all of them getting sick.

Gourmets Gone Missing

After completing the Potential Princess Sightings! quest, Link can speak with Penn at Riverside Stable to begin the Gourmets Gone Missing quest. The chef of Riverside Stable is waiting for Agus and the rest of the group to arrive at the stable so they can teach him one of Princess Zelda's recipes. However the group has not arrived. Link can find them all resting near Batrea Lake. If Link speaks with Teli, he is sick, complaining about monster meat.[11]

The group is all sick after having eaten a meal with monster parts in it. Teli wonders who included such materials, at which point Joute admits that he changed the recipe to include some monster parts.[12][13] Endai agrees with experimenting with food, saying that the road to gourmet greatness is littered with stuff you wouldn't think is tasty, and that they should expand their palate.[14] Agus quiets them down, saying now isn't the time to talk about future dietary exploits. Agus will thank Link and reward him with some Hylian Rice, Rock Salt, and Raw Gourmet Meat.[15] The group will then take off towards the Riverside Stable.

Feathered Fugitives

After completing the Gourmets Gone Missing quest, Teli will make his way over to the Riverside Stable. He can be found behind the stable, looking at the Cuccos. When Link speaks to him, this will begin the Feathered Fugitives quest. He's worries about the Cuccos, as several of them have escaped and thinks that they couldn't have gotten too far.[16][17]

Teli once again thanks Link for previously helping him and his friends out when they were poisoned by a bad meal. Teli, thinking Link is such a helpful person, asks for his help once again. He asks Link to get the five Cuccos that escaped back inside the fence before someone from the stable finds out.[18][19]

After finding and bringing all lost Cuccos he will award you with 100 Rupees. After the quest he can be seen hunting eggs at the Cucco pen. He does this because he wants to make an Egg Tart. He says it's hard to get the ingredients because most are scattered across Hyrule.

  2. Hey. You're probably wondering, "Is this the guy everyone's talking about?" "The dashing treasure hunter Teli, with his roguish good looks?" Yep, that's me. If you had west a bit farther, you'll hit Fort Hateno! Watch your back, if you do go. There be monsters about! - Teli
  3. Go far to the north, up to Akkala, and you'll find a man who deals in Guardian parts. He's half my business, truth be told. As long as he's in the market, I can keep treasure hunting until I get my big break. - Teli
  4. I wonder what the researchers around these parts do all day.... - Teli
  5. There's a scientist of some sort over at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab who loves it when I bring him Guardian parts. Wait, what if he's repairing Guardians? That would be bad... - Teli
  6. You smell that? That's the smell of grease-not for cooking, but for keeping machines running! I've got a lot of Guardian parts on me, all day, every day, so that smell of grease follows me everywhere I go. - Teli
  7. Hey. The name's Teli! I'm a bit of a treasure hunter, if you get my drift. It's just a short hike west from here to Fort Hateno. Let's see... What can I tell you about that place... Um... Eh, nothing really comes to mind. - Teli
  8. The thing about being a treasure hunter is...if you're smart, then you wait until the monsters are gone before you start. - Teli

  15. "Now's not the time to sit and figure out best practices for future dietary exploits! We've got to get to Riverside Stable! We're so late... I'm sure Gotter has been worrying about us." — Agus, Tears of the Kingdom
  16. "Argh, it's no use! What should I do? I need to sort this out, and fast, or I'm going to be in big trouble..." — Teli, Tears of the Kingdom
  17. "They can't have gone far, right? But where are they?!" — Teli, Tears of the Kingdom
  18. "AAAH! Forgive me! ...Oh! I mistook you for somebody else. Maybe don't sneak up on a guy who's clearly having a bad day. I was sure you were someone from the stable... You're the guys who saved us after that mishap with the monster parts, right? Whew... Talk about a bad meal. Say... Being as you're such a helpful sort, maybe you can help me out of the bind I'm in now. There used to be six Cucco here, see. And I was hungry, and I figured where there are Cuccos, there are eggs. But when I got close...all except one flew away! Now it looks like I stole them! Do you know what happens to Cucco thieves around here? Well, neither do I. But probably nothing good! I know what you're thinking. "How far could they get with those little things? They must be nearby!" And you'd be right about that. But as soon as I get close, they'll scram! I really need to get the other five Cuccos back inside the fence before someone from the stable finds out..." — Teli, Tears of the Kingdom
  19. "*sigh* I guess that waiting for anything that's flown the coop is useless. I can't seem to catch a single runaway bird, let alone all five! If those missing Cuccos aren't inside the fence soon, the folks at the stable are gonna be decidedly not trhilled. Where are they? They can't have gone too far, right?" — Teli, Tears of the Kingdom
