Teli is a character in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Breath of the Wild

Teli is a traveling treasure hunter and merchant who deals in Ancient Materials. He lives in Hateno Village, but travels along the path all the way to Fort Hateno. He goes out that way to collect ancient materials from the Guardian remains found near Fort Hateno.[1] Teli is quite vain, referring to himself as having roguish good looks.[2]

He does have knowledge of Ancient Parts and does business with the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab, all the way at the northeast part of Hyrule, claiming that it is half of his business.[3] However, Teli sometimes wonders what the researchers around Hateno do all day long.[4] Teli even speculates that perhaps the scientist at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab is using the guardian parts to repair guardians.[5] He is always around Ancient Materials, so much so that the smell of grease that is on the materials follows him around.[6]

Teli will give Link directions, depending on where he is, including how to get to Fort Hateno.[7] Unlike many other travelers, Teli does not have any weapons with him and will run away if enemy Bokoblin or Stalkoblin appear.[8][9]

When Teli arrives at Hateno Village, he will make his way over to The Great Ton Pu Inn where he will sit down and take a break before venturing off back to Fort Hateno. While Teli is a treasure hunter, he does have some knowledge about the Guardians, knowing that they were created to help defend people.[10]

Tears of the Kingdom

Early on, Teli can be found alongside Agus, Joute, and Endai at Batrea Lake, just east of the Owlan Bridge. The group is on their way to the Riverside Stable, but stopped due to all of them getting sick.

Gourmets Gone Missing

Main article: Gourmets Gone Missing

After completing the Potential Princess Sightings! quest, Link can speak with Penn at Riverside Stable to begin the Gourmets Gone Missing quest. The chef of Riverside Stable is waiting for Agus and the rest of the group to arrive at the stable so they can teach him one of Princess Zelda's recipes. However the group has not arrived. Link can find them all resting near Batrea Lake. If Link speaks with Teli, he is sick, complaining about monster meat.[11]

The group is all sick after having eaten a meal with monster parts in it. Teli wonders who included such materials, at which point Joute admits that he changed the recipe to include some monster parts.[12][13] Endai agrees with experimenting with food, saying that the road to gourmet greatness is littered with stuff you wouldn't think is tasty, and that they should expand their palate.[14] Agus quiets them down, saying now isn't the time to talk about future dietary exploits. Agus will thank Link and reward him with some Hylian Rice, Rock Salt, and Raw Gourmet Meat.[15] The group will then take off towards the Riverside Stable.

Riverside Stable

Teli now works at the Riverside Stable. He is in charge of the Cucco pen, and loves everything about eggs, this might mean that he lost interest in Ancient Parts. He also no longer travels meaning it's unknown if he still lives at Hateno Village. During rain or thunderstorm, Teli will run inside the stable.

When first spoken to him, he has a Side Quest called Feathered Fugitives. After finding and bringing all lost Cuccos he will award you with 100 Rupees.

After the quest he can be seen hunting eggs at the Cucco pen. He does this because he wants to make an Egg Tart. He says it's hard to get the ingredients because most are scattered across Hyrule.
