Link's Awakening DX

Hardhit Beetle is the third and final boss located in the Color Dungeon. This boss can be difficult due to the fact that he doesn't take a certain number of hits. It starts out as a blue color, but will change to green, yellow, orange, and then red every time you hit him. You have to keep hitting him really fast over and over until he turns red and dies. He slowly turns back to blue with an array of colors if you aren't fast enough. He also shoots stars and makes Stalfos come down, making it even harder to hit him.

The key to defeat Hardhit Beetle is to use Roc's Feather and slash it multiple times while you are still in the air. Just keep relentlessly jumping and slashing at him with your sword. Once his color has turned a light red, he'll start to summon green Stalfos. Just ignore them and keep slashing away until it has turned fully red and is defeated. Link also can use an Arrows or the Magic Rod if he already obtained it.

After it is defeated, Link can enter the next room to meet the Fairy Queen. He'll have an option to choose the Red Mail or the Blue Mail. The Red Mail will cause Link to double his sword's strength, while the Blue Mail causes a reduction in damage by half.
