This article describes a subject that is or may be outside the core Zelda canon.

Some fans are inspired by The Legend of Zelda series; for tribute, they even make Fan Games based on this series. There are three types of Zelda fan games: original fan games, remakes, and hacks. All these games are for non-profit and made by a group of dedicated Zelda fans. All these games are also considered non-canonical. Here is a listing of some completed Zelda fan games!

Plot

The Thunderbird, a horrible guardian encountered by Link in the Great Palace of Zelda 2, has somehow survived and is out for revenge. Having lost the Triforce of Courage at the hands of its adversary, it has stolen the Triforce of Power and flown to the vast neighbor of Hyrule, the Outlands. In a world similar to yet completely different from Zelda 1, Link must track down the captured Tetrarch Fairies and, with their help, break open Ganon's secret golden vault where the creature now resides.

Link will face dangers and traps unlike anything Ganon had ever devised. His adventure will span 18 new dungeons hidden within a completely unfamiliar terrain. Zelda herself will make appearances to help the hero, providing items and sage advice crucial to the new journey. Link has become very skilled in his familiar world of Hyrule, but skill alone is his only advantage -- the land of the Outlands is a beautiful yet deadly world bearing no resemblance to his own cherished kingdom.

Shin Zelda Densetsu is a complete hack of The Legend of Zelda. In a novel twist, the player must guide Princess Zelda on a quest to rescue Link from the forces of evil.

The overworld is completely revamped, with few if any recognizable landmarks or routes from the original game. It is superbly designed, and won't bore the player.

The same goes for the dungeons. Instead of numbered levels, the dungeons are identified by symbols of the zodiac, another interesting twist.

This hack was made by one Lord Steak years ago. I'm not one hundred percent sure of the exact date. It's a very well-made hack, and would have made a worthy sequel to the original game if it had been done back in the day.

The original version of the hack was perfect except for one game-breaking bug – it was impossible to finish Level 3 in the first quest. That's been fixed, so the player can now complete the hack in its entirety.

Plot

You are a treasure hunter from another land. You moved here with your friend, in order to find treasure of course!

A lot of things started to happen not long after you moved here.

Seven people has "appeared out of nowhere" and begins questioning about the Parallel Tower and the inhabitants of Kakariko Village. The Parallel Tower was situated in the Sky Islands northeast of the village. The legend behind the Parallel Tower was long lost, and only the elders knew the legend.

Word begins to spread out about the Parallel Tower, and people started to learn about the legend again. The legend says it was a by product of a war long ago and a power, known as the Triforce, existed at the top of it. It is said that nobody knows about the clues as to how to get to the top of the Tower. The seven people are said to know about these "clues" to the Tower.

The king was notified of these seven people and he invited them to the castle to find out what they wanted with the tower. Just the night before the seven people are to have an audience with the king, the king's assistant, Draegor, eliminates the king and claims the throne by default.

The seven people walked right into an obvious trap. Draegor, who people believe is a power hungry person, caught all 7 people and forces them to tell him what they know about the Tower.

When the people learn of the king's fate, a rebel force is gathered in secret to plot against Draegor. The rebel force learns that 2 out of 7 people who Draegor caught are still alive and imprisoned in the guardhouse. They quickly rallied anyone who may be interested in the Tower and the locals to help these last 2 people.

You and your friend heard about this plan and are willing help the rebels against Draegor.

The night of the operation begins the story...

About

Voyager of Time takes place after Majora's Mask, but it is not a direct sequel. Link has come back to the Kokiri Forest to try and find peace after his last adventure. It is implied that he has had a third adventure in Termina, but with the fairy Tael instead of Tatl. The younger brother of the feisty Tatl is a bit more subdued, but also more brave than what we've seen in Majora's Mask. He can hold his own and he and Link have grown to be great friends.

The game starts out with Link having nightmares of his past adventures. The Deku Tree Sprout, descendant of the Great Deku Tree, has summoned Link because he has sensed great evil growing lately. Link is sent on a quest to help out with the growing problems in Hyrule.

Along the way, you find that the Door of Time has been broken again by the evil villain, Ganondorf, and you must find a way to stop his rampage once more. There are some twists and turns along the way, as Link's items are spread out in an unfamiliar way. Link also has to face some major problems that hit a little too close to home.

The game features heavy time travel as well as side stories that highlight the problems with time traveling in general. Many places are transformed over the period of seven years that Ganondorf was in rule, and Link has to deal with the problems of his closest friends. On top of that, there may be another problem Link and his friends don't realize until it's too late...

The overworld is changed quite a lot from the original Ocarina of Time. There is an attempt to make each village and section of the map seem more lively and have more character than ever before. NPCs are useful to talk to, and they give hints to the world around you. There are small stories they tell you of history, and even new side quests you can accept.

The biggest change is the difference between the child and adult sections. The child sections are meant to feel more innocent and alive, and the adult sections are meant to showcase the utter destruction of Ganondorf. This is not to be intentionally dark, but just to show a realistic change that would happen over seven years.

The Legend of Zelda: Mystery of Solarus is an old creation of Zelda Solarus Team, made with RPG Maker 2000 software. The development of the game lasted a year and a half. It was released on April 26, 2002 and has been downloaded 638,530 times. This game is actually a logical extension of "A Link to the Past" on SNES.

An enhanced remake, The Legend of Zelda: Mystery of Solarus DX was unveiled on April 1st, 2008 and written in C++. Its objectives are to correct the many flaws of its predecessor: the battle system, the bosses, the use of items, etc. However, that is hardly all of it as new graphical elements and musics will accompany you throughout the game.

This Deluxe version will be the opportunity for you to relive the adventure in a brand new way, or even to discover it for the first time if you've never played it before! The full game was released in French on December 16th, 2011, and is now also available in English.

The Legend of Zelda: Realm of Shadows is the third Zelda fan game by sbs91 and it is the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Flames of Darkness. This game has 8 dungeons, a really big map (Land of Eluryh), 4-5 hours of game-play, and lot of extras and secrets. Plot

Dark Link is born from the negative energy accumulated Link. Create your possession a psychedelic dimension (where they change the culture, weather and other factors) and reverse Hyrule Link to lock it directing toward a single destination. Since it is a copy of Hyrule, the three Spiritual Stones live there, the same as open (next to the Master Sword) the Gate of Time Hyrule causing desynchronization of the chronology that could cause the return of Ganon in the past. Link should look for in a trap with no other destiny. It also reveals what happened to Kaepora Gaebora after previous game.

This fan game was created by Kao in the Spring of 2000. This was the first game featured in ZeldaPower's original Fan Game section. This is a fairly decent game, with some fun gameplay, nice animation, and a good plot. You'll have to deal with some primitive graphics and clunky controls, though.

Plot

One night, while all of Hyrule slept, Zelda left the castle. She was headed for Ganon's old lair because she felt something was going on there. She knew Ganon was back again. BUT HOW?

Zelda used her telepathy to contact Link. "I fear Ganon is immortal!" she stammered. "I am going to try to fight him. Get the three mystical objects from three secret chambers. Then come to Ganon's lair! Hurry to the lake!" Who could have known it could have gone so wrong?

This fan game was created by Kao in the Summer of 2000. This was Kao's second contribution to the Fan Game section of Zelda Power. Like Kao's Lost Tales game, Next Generation has some fun game-play, several dungeons, and a good plot. Though the game is technically better than Lost Tales, there are several glitches that make it difficult to play.

Plot

A long, long time ago....

The world was in an age of peace. King Link and Queen Malon have raised two wonderful children, Daunt and Lalon. They were very adventurous like Link, but also very righteous at heart. But unfortunately, Hyrule will be destroyed. The only one who can save Hyrule is the ancient wise man. Daunt must seek out the wise man. He has but one hour to accomplish this task. Will the wise man be able to help?

Multiple Option

This is not a game, it is a NDS version of children's book officially published by Nintendo made by DesertDog of Multiple Option. Its story took place during the events of The Legend of Zelda, and was supposedly a minor adventure Link had while on his quest to rescue Princess Zelda. As well as the DS book DesertDog has also made a video version with narration by Winter11 and music from Ocarina of Time.

The Legend of Princess is a one-level 2D side-scrolling platformer inspired by Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series of games. Note that the game has only one playable level, although arcade veterans could technically replay the entire adventure at a higher difficulty setting by choosing a different set of starting equipment with each new try. Also, the chances of getting a rare blue or red gem increases if you defeat more enemies and avoid getting hurt too frequently.

The point is to win Rupees and avoid Rupoors and Bombs. There are three difficulty levels each requiring a higher amount of Rupees to play, but each having a larger payout for the player. Throughout the game, you may collect more Rupees for your wallet and even discover some items.

The Legend of Zelda RPG is an RPG take on the traditional Zelda formula. Created using RPG Maker XP, players fight an assortment of traditional Zelda enemies using familiar weapons and abilities only in a turn based environment. The cast includes ten main playable characters; Link, Zelda, Impa, a knight of Hyrule, a kokiri, a deku, a twilit, a gerudo, a zora and a goron alongside several guest characters. The game is in beta but currently has a demo with over ten hours worth of gameplay.

Plot

The plot follows a standard Zelda set up of journeying through dungeons and searching for key items. However it uses the expanded nature of an RPG to utilize characters and plot lines from multiple games in the series including Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and the Oracle Games. Elements from The Wind Waker and Link's Awakening are also due to be worked into the game.

Features

  1. Ten playable characters.
  2. Almost 200 weapons from the Zelda series.
  3. Currently over ten hours worth of gameplay.
  4. Many side quests including a trading quest and a version of the Kafei and Anju quest from Majora's Mask.
  5. Several mini games including horse racing and Money Making Game.
  6. A massive, but easily traversable, overworld, carefully mapped to give a consistent sense of place and scale between areas.
