The Snowpeak Ruins is the fifth dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It is a large mansion set within Snowpeak, a frigid mountain in the far north of Hyrule. Link travels to the Snowpeak Ruins in hope of finding the second Mirror Shard. He was told by the Sages that one of the Mirror Shards is located on a snowy mountain top. The Snowpeak Ruins is the the most fitting place for the shard to be located based on the Sages' description.

Once Link reaches the summit of Snowpeak, he meets up with Yeto, who has a Reekfish in his hand. He asks Link what he is doing on top of the mountain, and Link will respond, telling Yeto he is looking for the Mirror Shard. Yeto will say he has the Mirror Shard, and him and Link will sled down the mountain to the Snowpeak Ruins, Yeto's home. Link enters the Snowpeak Ruins and meets Yeta, who tells him she got sick because of the Mirror. She also will tell Link that the Mirror is in the bedroom, and it has been locked away. She tells him the location of the key on the map, and Link goes searching for it. However, the location she told Link doesn't house the key, but it houses the Ordon Pumpkin. Upon telling Yeta what happened, she will tell Link a second location, but this also doesn't contain the key. It contains a chest that houses the Ordon Goat Cheese. Yeta will then give Link a third location, and this one is finally the correct one. Link finds the key and along with Yeta goes to get the Mirror. However, Yeta appears to get possessed by the mirror and turns into Blizzeta. Link must defeat Blizzeta to gain the second Mirror Shard.

Enemies

Listed below are all the enemies that Link will encounter as he searches for the Bedroom Key throughout the Snowpeak Ruins.

Darkhammer

Main article: Darkhammer

Darkhammer is the Mini-Boss of the Snowpeak Ruins. It is a figure that is completely covered by armor, in fact the only part of its body that Link will see is its tail, which Link must attack with his sword to defeat Darkhammer. The battle takes place in a long narrow room, to the very far north of the first floor of the Snowpeak Ruins. The weapon that Darkhammer uses against Link is the Dungeon Item of the Snowpeak Ruins, the Ball and Chain. After defeating Darkhammer, Link can use the Ball and Chain for himself. Darkhammer appears to be guarding the room that contains the Ordon Goat Cheese, as the room directly behind this room is where the cheese is. Whether it really likes cheese or it really likes a challenge doesn't matter, as Link will defeat it either way and continue searching through the Snowpeak Ruins for that second Mirror Shard.

Twilit Ice Mass: Blizzeta

Main article: Blizzeta
Blizzeta is one scary monster

Twilit Ice Mass: Blizzeta is the Boss of the Snowpeak Ruins. Blizzeta is the form Yeta takes after she has been possessed by the Mirror Shard. The battle takes place in the bedroom of the Snowpeak Ruins, the only room that lies on the third floor. Since the entire dungeon has been ice-based, it is most appropriate for this battle to be the same. In both phases of this battle, Blizzeta will guard herself using large ice blocks that are very hard to penetrate. The only way Link can hit Blizzeta hard to enough to destroy the ice is with the Dungeon Item of the Snowpeak Ruins, the Ball and Chain. After defeating Blizzeta, Link will be rewarded with the first Mirror Shard and a Heart Container.

Dungeon Items

As is the usual with dungeons in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the Snowpeak Ruins contain the basic four Dungeon Items. The Dungeon Map, the Compass, the Bedroom Key, and the Small Keys.

Dungeon Map

The Dungeon Map is given to Link by Yeta very early on in the dungeon. It is used to show Link how the mansion is laid out. It shows every room in the dungeon, as well as the shape and size of each room. Yeta will show Link the location of the Bedroom Key by putting a symbol on the map. Link must go to the that particular spot, so the map is very useful if he ever gets lost or even just to refer to every once in a while.

Compass

The Compass can be collected by Link in a room that has long narrow paths, which make it very difficult to travel through the room to get the the far end of it, where the chest that contains the Compass lies. The Compass does two very useful things for Link. Firstly, it shows him the location of every Treasure Chest that is located in the dungeon. Secondly, it shows Link the locations of every Canonball that he can use with the Cannon.

Bedroom Key

Main article: Bedroom Key

The Bedroom Key is the only item that can unlock the door that leads into the bedroom of the Snowpeak Ruins. Yeto and Yeta hid the key after they locked away the Mirror Shard in the bedroom. Yeta will tell Link the location of the key, and will ask him to take the mirror away.

Small Keys

There are four hidden Small Keys located in the Snowpeak Ruins. They all can unlock a door that was previously blocking Link's way through the dungeon.

Treasure Chests

There are seventeen (17) Treasure Chests located in the Snowpeak Ruins. These chests all contain certain valuable items that will greatly help Link along his quest. These items are Rupees, Dungeon Items, Regular Items, Equipment, and Pieces of Heart.

Rupees

Throughout the Snowpeak Ruins, there are a total of five chests that contain any amount of rupees. Four of the five chests contain a single Red Rupee, which are worth 20 rupees a piece. The final chest in the Snowpeak Ruins that contains rupees contains a single Yellow Rupee, which are worth 10 rupees each.

Dungeon Items

Of the four Dungeon Items, the only one that is not found in a chest is the Dungeon Map, which is given to Link by Yeta. The remaining Dungeon Items, which include the Compass, the Bedroom Key, and the Small Keys, are all found in treasure chests that are scattered around the dungeon.

Regular Items

Of the seventeen treasure chests that can be found in the Snowpeak Ruins, only two contain Regular Items. Both chests contain Bombs, 5 each to be exact.

Equipment

Two treasure chests in total contain any sort of equipment in the Snowpeak Ruins. The first of these chests contains the Ordon Pumpkin. The second houses the Ordon Goat Cheese. Both these items are used to help make Yeto's soup better.

Pieces of Heart

Main article: Twilight Princess Heart Pieces

As is the usual in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess dungeons, the Snowpeak Ruins house two Pieces of Heart. One requires Bombs to get, while the other requires the Ball and Chain.
