100% Completion

100% Completion is an optional challenge in every Zelda game, which requires the player to collect every single item, collectible, and complete every single task that there is to do within the particular game. What this includes varies greatly from game to game and this challenge serves as an additional gameplay element for players after they complete a game.

In the Zelda Speedrun communities, 100% is often one of the categories that is tracked. In some cases, what appears in the 100% category doesn't actually include every single aspect of the game. This is often because in some titles, gathering every single item adds an unrealistic amount of time to the game with excessive amounts of RNG. An example of this is, in the 100% Speedrun category of Phantom Hourglass, the player does not need to acquire all of the Ship Parts. Additionally, community speedrun categories typically only collect items that permanently appear on the menu screen out of dungeons. This usually excludes dungeon items - such as the Map, Compass, or Boss Key. A notable exception is that the community for Majora's Mask uses a different definition, requiring all items that are not lost when playing the Song of Time, which does include dungeon items. Finally, variations of 100% categories often exist across the games, typically called something along the lines of "100%+", which often includes things that the game's main 100% category skips, such as intermediate upgrades for items and dungeon items.

General Rules

In all games, simply completing the game is part of the 100% category. There are other common objectives that are the same across almost all Zelda titles.

• Defeat the Final Boss.
• Acquire all Dungeon Maps and Compasses. Open all Treasure Chests.
• Acquire all Heart Pieces and Heart Containers.
• Collect all Inventory Items, Upgrades, Collectibles, and other Rewards.

The Legend of Zelda

• Collect all 13 Heart Containers.
• Upgrade Bomb capacity to 16.
• Show the Letter to the Old Woman.
• Uncover all Overworld Caves and Dungeon Shortcuts.
• Defeat Ganon.

To truly 100% the game, these objectives must be completed on the Second Quest as well.

The Adventure of Link

• Upgrade Health, Magic, and Attack to level 8.
• Collect all four Heart Containers.
• Collect all Spells.
• Collect all Point Bags.
• Collect all Link Dolls.
• Learn Jump Thrust and Down Thrust.

A Link to the Past

• Collect all 24 Heart Pieces.
• Acquire the Golden Sword, Red Mail, and Magical Boomerang.
• Upgrade Arrow capacity to 70 and Bomb capacity to 50 at the Pond of Happiness.
• Upgrade the Magic Meter.

Link's Awakening

• Collect all permanent inventory items (bow, boomerang, shovel, etc).
• Acquire all 14 heart containers.
• Acquire all level 2 upgrades.
• Acquire all 3 capacity upgrades.

Link's Awakening DX

• Acquire all pictures.
• Acquire either a red or blue mail upgrade.

Link's Awakening HD

• Acquire all 32 Heart Pieces and all 20 Heart Containers.
• Acquire all 50 Secret Seashells.
• Acquire all 14 Chamber Stones.
• Acquire all dungeon entrance keys.
• Acquire all item upgrades.
• Acquire all capacity upgrades for powder, bombs and arrows.
• Acquire all ocarina songs.
• Collect either mail upgrade.
• Collect the Magnifying Lens.
• Place all Figurines in their pedestals.
• Defeat Dethl at least once.

Ocarina of Time

• Collect all Items and Equipment.
• Collect all Upgrades.
• Complete all objectives on the Quest Status screen.
• Collect all 100 Gold Skulltulas.
• Earn at least 20 hearts on the HUD.
• Receive all 36 main heart pieces.
• Receive the mask of truth from the shop.

Ocarina of Time 3D

• Complete all visions in the Sheikah Stone.
• Complete the Boss Gauntlet.

Majora's Mask

• Collect all four Heart Containers and 52 Heart Pieces.
• Upgrade the Arrow, Bomb and Wallet to max capacity.
• Collect all six bottles.
• Learn all ten songs.
• Complete the Bombers' Notebook.
• Return all Stray Fairies to the Fairy Fountains.
• Buy all maps from Tingle.
• Activate all ten Owl Statues.

Majora's Mask 3D

• Collect all seven bottles.
• Learn all thirteen songs.
• Collect a Fishing Hole Pass.
• Catch all 24 fish.
