East of the Bay

Template:Location East of the Bay is a tiny, four-screen area of Koholint Island in Link's Awakening. It is found south of Animal Village and receives its name from its location in relation to Martha's Bay. It contains the entrance to the Yarna Desert.

Entrance to Yarna Desert and the Walrus

Main article: Walrus

While Link is searching for the key to Angler's Tunnel, he finds a lazy Walrus has blocked the path into the desert. He must bring Marin from Mabe Village so she can sing the Ballad of the Wind Fish to awaken him. Afterward, if Link plays the Ballad of the Wind Fish on his Ocarina on this screen, the Walrus will surface in the water, thinking that it was Marin.

Warp Portal

One of the three warp portals of Koholint Island can be found in the East of the Bay region. It can only be reached through a southeastern exit of Animal Village. If Link enters it, the portal will take him to either Ukuku Prairie or Tal Tal Heights, as long as he has seen the portals in those other two regions.
