Oh wow, this is confusing. Hey Locke. Would category would the Picori Festival be classified under? I was thinking "The Minish Cap Locations" but the festival occurs in Castle Town so I'm not sure. A LINK IN TIME 02:12, August 17, 2012 (CDT)

I think events are common enough to deserve a new template. Feel free do add more relevant fields to the template itself. For example, one I just now though of could be something like "When". << Locke(T·C) >> 15:57, August 17, 2012 (CDT)

Figurines

I made a new sizing for figurine template pictures I need you to approve of it. You can see it in my Sandbox but here is the text for it

| style="border: 2px solid black;" colspan=2 | {}

Random notes

"galleries do not need onlyinclude unless they're transcluded on another page."

— Locke

Thanks! I didn't realize; I'll try to catch and fix any pages I happen upon/did that you didn't get to, and leave it out in the future. I have a habit of having to come back and go through everything I've done anyway~ to double check it and for uniformity's sake. If you see anything else I'm doing that can be changed to help improve the work flow, let me know. You have better things to do than clean up after me. This is my first wiki, I'm trying to learn quickly; but sometimes I'm dense.

Speaking of that, I've also noticed (don't know if there's a code mode so: ) that I've caused you unnecessary inconvenience and cost time by doing A Link to the Past instead of A Link to the Past etc. -So I've been trying to catch that in my edits and make a habit of doing it the right way. AND, another random note based on the extra work I've noticed I've caused you. I'll be going back through and re-tagging my uploaded images. I would have loved to do them the first time, it's just been making working incredibly slow and difficult for me. Typing starts to hurt later in the day, or randomly (recovering from arm surgery, mostly working with only the left hand with the mouse) so I figured I am going to make a copy and paste template for the image tags, finish with LttP, and then just go through my old uploads procedurally. (which I need to do for the character/enemy sprites anyway, so they're double size and look nicer in the gallery code) I've had the motivation to finish the dungeons, so I was hesitant to break that flow to go back. (Plus, I wasn't sure how I wanted to tag them, -or what tags were preferable,- at first.) I understand this is messy and not preferable for a wiki, but it seemed a better alternative to not working on it at all or making a billion typos in the tags like I was doing. I kept trying different things and screwing up; it was annoying me to see all my problems. So, again, apologies. I guess I just didn't want you to think ill of me over it. Melora 14:46, June 22, 2012 (CDT)

Regarding your LttP links, that hardly took me any time at all, so don't worry about it! There's a feature that lets me automatically replace text in bulk. Let me know if there's anything else that would be useful for, so you don't have to waste your own time.
Making copy-paste templates is a good idea. I'll put together a little tutorial for a really convenient method I use.
When you say "tagging" files, that's something that the staff hasn't really reached agreement on. Some think it's unnecessary. It can also be done by including them in categories, or by adding them to galleries. I think right now what we're doing is creating "Gallery" pages for this sort of file. For an example, check out the Gallery of The Legend of Zelda Enemies. Galleries have their own namespace and their titles closely follow the category titles. << Locke(T·C) >> 18:18, June 22, 2012 (CDT)
Oh wow! That LoZ gallery is awesome! I had know idea there was something like that on the wiki... I LOVE art, so that actually makes me super excited. That's something I'd really like to help with one day. Like, seriously. It's why I've been making 600dpi scans of all my guides/Zelda books. I'm going to be doing art for my own site soon, (me being here is kind of a form of procrastination from that project, lol) I'd love to add that same art here as well. With the link you provided for the LoZ art, I found this page (and some others) http://www.zeldadungeon.net/wiki/Gallery:A_Link_to_the_Past_Enemies I will add to it as I update the sprites (so they're not blurry) ~as long as that's fine for me to do :3
Also, honestly and personally; I wouldn't mind just adding images to a gallery rather than tagging them (unless I think there's something that specifically needs to be credited/sourced to a more random thing.) It kind of seems to kill two birds with one stone, and (maybe?) keeps there from being quite as many links to change when info might change. Not that I really know; just babbling things as they come into my head.
Really good to know about the mass editor for text, though I'll still try to do it right; I was feeling really bad about my past transgressions ;) Thanks again! Melora 18:57, June 22, 2012 (CDT)

Moving Pages

Hello there! I was wondering how exactly you "move" a page. Initially I'd thought it was an ability only reserved for administrators, but I looked in the User Group Rights and realized that apparently "Autoconfirmed Members" can do that too. I think I'm an autoconfirmed member, so do I have this ability? Heroine of Time 01:26, June 30, 2012 (CDT)

At the top of the article by the "Edit" and "History" links, there should be an arrow for a drop-down menu. "Move" is found in that menu. If you go to your preferences and look in the "Gadgets" tab, there is an option called "Menu to Tabs" that will move all the options from this drop-down menu to their own tabs next to the "Edit" and "History" tabs. << Locke(T·C) >> 09:52, June 30, 2012 (CDT)
Oh, alright! I see it now! Thank you! I also wanted to ask if you could do that "text replace" thing for Hylian into Hylian. Last night, I went through most of the pages to ensure that no links that should have been Hylian (Language) went to the race instead, so replacing all of it in the wiki shouldn't misdirect anything. I was going through it manually, but I think you can just replace all of it automatically, right? Or am I mistaken? Thank you very much. ^^ Heroine of Time 12:06, June 30, 2012 (CDT)

Deku v. Deku Scrub, listed as a race

Hello, I noticed that there are two simular pages listed as Deku and Deku Scrub. From how the Deku page is written it seems that it is intened to be about the race itself and the Deku Scrub page is more or less aimed as the enemy. However both are listed under Majora's Mask Races, and I am not entirly sure if the Deku page should be specified as the race only, or if a redirect, to the deku scrub page would be better, since both terms sound equally valid as a zelda race. Abc2VE 16:57, July 22, 2012 (CDT)Abc2VE

Glancing at a few text dumps, it looks like "Deku Scrub" is the race, though I'm not sure what that would make "Deku". Perhaps a disambiguation page, or a page about Deku culture and artifacts... << Locke(T·C) >> 16:27, July 23, 2012 (CDT)

Page Needing Deletion + Deku vs Deku Scrub

Hey Locke, I noticed a page that was basically useless.

http://www.zeldadungeon.net/wiki/King_bublin

I also came across the Deku vs Deku Scrub issue yesterday night. It would appear that the Deku Scrub is a specific type of Deku, different from the Mad Scrubs, Business Scrubs though. It seems that the Deku Scrub is a verrrry specific type of Deku, and if it were to have its own page, it would make it so Mad Scrubs and Business Scrubs must have their own pages as well.

Deku, on the other hand, is obviously a broader classification. It includes the Deku Princess, Deku Butler, etc. as well as the Deku Scrubs, Business Scrubs and Mad Scrubs. I'm not sure if creating separate pages for each specific type of Deku is a good idea though, since it would result in an awful lot of new pages. But what I am sure of is that the current Deku Scrub page probably shouldn't be treating Mad Scrubs and Business Scrubs as a subcategory of the Deku Scrub. Majora's cat 11:00, July 30, 2012 (CDT)

Different Version Text Dumps

Hello, Locke. I don't know anything about how the text dumps work or how difficult they are to add to the wiki, but is it possible to make a text dump page for Link's Awakening DX? There are only a few changes and additions in dialogue, but there's enough that I'm missing a few references that I'd like to have, particuarly for the Photographer. I was thinking that, if it's not too much trouble, the GBA version of A Link to the Past could also be added, since there are differences there as well. I don't know if any alternate versions of other games might have something important in them, too. It's just something that I wanted to suggest in case you have the time for it; I'd do it myself if I knew how, haha. There's no rush. Heroine of Time 01:50, August 18, 2012 (CDT)

Yeap, I had forgotten to do those two. The script I wrote for it isn't difficult to modify. They're up now, using "LADX" and "LttPGBA" with Dump and Cite. Any others I'll have to find ROMs for and go through the whole hassle of finding/extracting the text. << Locke(T·C) >> 18:11, August 21, 2012 (CDT)

Okay, sorry i'm still kind of new to this I've been trying to do it in the third person perspective. I'll make sure that I won't make that mistake anymore. Thank you for telling me. (TheRizardon 09:03, September 26, 2012 (CDT))

Some Questions

Hello Locke, on your user page it says you'vee beaten FS 100% except for Vaati's lvl 3. Does this mean Hero's Trial as well? If so, could you please share some tips, and tell me what is the reward? Also, wiki-related: I joined very recently, so I am still learning. Are there any tutorial-like features here? For example, I wanted to cite something, but I don't know how to.

One last thing: how do you get that fancy coloured signature? Did you just spend time formatting it manually (then how do you add a custom sig using four tildas), or is there a feature/gadget for this, or is this only for admin? Thank you. Demise 16:12, October 16, 2012 (CDT)

I don't remember if there's a reward. It's easier in multiplayer. Collect lots of rupees and try not to die. Keep practicing and eventually you'll get good at the first section(s) so you can do them quickly and get more rupees. We only have a few tutorials right now - it's something we're going to be working on in the coming year. We do have a help guide on Citing Sources and one on Signatures. See Help:Contents for more available guides. << Locke(T·C) >> 11:22, October 17, 2012 (CDT)

I have one more question: when adding link, to, say, Octorok, when talking about a spesific game (e.g.Phantom Hourglass, is it better to use Octorok#Phantom Hourglass or simply Octorok? It seems most links in this wiki use Octorok, but Octorok#Phantom Hourglass is more logical. Demise 07:35, October 17, 2012 (CDT)

I have a question regarding my sig. I hope I'm not bothering you too much with it :) I've created this (as well as this, however it's probably too big), and there is a problem: the image template automatically creates a new line before and after it, which obviously won't do for a signature. How can I fix that? Is there a workaround? Thanks! (And thanks for your help on the other talk pages too!) Demise MyThumbnailsmall.png (Talk|Contrib) 12:50, October 18, 2012 (CDT)

Instead of using that template, you can just use the standard image markup: . That doesn't add newlines. (and yes, that second one is too big.) << Locke(T·C) >> 13:18, October 18, 2012 (CDT)

Fi Caption Templates

Hi Locke! I have another question/idea for you about the Fi Caption Templates. I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be under the Misc. Q&A or here. Can the Fi Caption Templates also be used for the areas (Faron Woods, Eldin Volcano, etc) as well? --☺Odd300☺ 17:23, October 18, 2012 (CDT)

Ah, yes, good idea. You can add those presets to the template if you want, or I could do it sometime. << Locke(T·C) >> 19:11, October 18, 2012 (CDT)
I don't know how to add presets to the template. Is there a tutorial or something to tell me how to do that? Also, for the Fi's comments on the area, should I use Fi's comments when Link first enters the area or should I use Fi's analysis. --☺Odd300☺ 20:31, October 18, 2012 (CDT)
Sorry if I am not supposed to douple "post" on the talk page. The questions I asked, you can ignore them. I am starting to get the hang of the text dumps and the caption templates. I justed added more locations to the text dump for Fi. Can you see if they have correct formatting? Also, should I use 1KenseiNormal, use the Fi comments that are used for when you first enter an area, or both for the Fi Templates (Areas)? Thank you! --☺Odd300☺ 11:34, October 19, 2012 (CDT)
Use the more descriptive ones (the one you used for Faron Woods is good.) If you think they'll be useful, you could add extra presets like "Faron Woods 2" or "Faron Woods Flooded" for other descriptions. << Locke(T·C) >> 10:47, October 20, 2012 (CDT)
Sorry I keep on bothering you! I have a question once again. How do I make the Fire Dragon's Hall preset also go under the Volcano Summit? Since Fire Dragon's Hall doesn't have a page, it should go under Volcano Summit. Here is the way I have it so far: Fire Dragon's Hall = Dump|SS|1310 --☺Odd300☺ 11:14, October 20, 2012 (CDT)
There should be a page for Fire Dragon's Hall. Regardless, if you need to use a preset with a different name than the pagename, just put that name in when you use the template, like Fire Dragon's Hall. Make sure there aren't any duplicates in that big switch block, because it'll only return the first one. << Locke(T·C) >> 20:23, October 20, 2012 (CDT)
Thank you for editing some of them! For some of the presets, I didn't know what to name them. There might be a slight problem with the presets under 1KenseiNormal. When you just put {{Fi} , all there is the name of the page, not the quote. This problem is only showing in some of the 1KenseiNormal presets like Fire Dragon's Hall Fi Template. --☺Odd300☺ 10:20, October 21, 2012 (CDT)
