Spoiler Alert! This section describes a subject that is sensitive to plot development.

There are eight dungeons in Ocarina of Time. The Deku Tree, Dodongo's Cavern, and Jabu-Jabu's Belly are the three child dungeons. The Forest, Fire, Water, Shadow, and Spirit Temples are the adult dungeons.

Child Dungeons

There are three child dungeons in this game. In each, you get an item which, like in the other games in the series, will be crucial to fighting the dungeon boss. It includes unique enemies in each area. You will receive three different Spiritual Stones, one for each dungeon.

Deku Tree

After getting the Kokiri Sword and the Deku Shield in Kokiri Forest, Mido will allow Link to approach the Great Deku Tree, who will tell him that he is cursed and that he wants Link to enter his mouth. Link will do so, and enter the first dungeon of the game.

Once inside, Link will run into all sorts of enemies. As he works his way through, he will acquire the Fairy Slingshot, which must be used to battle and defeat Queen Gohma. When she is defeated, Link receives the Kokiri Emerald, the first of three Spiritual Stones, and a Heart Container.

Dodongo's Cavern

After getting the Goron Bracelet from Darunia, Link enters Dodongo's Cavern to get the second Spiritual Stone, the Goron's Ruby. There is a new group of enemies here, and the dungeon item is the bomb bag with bombs. After defeating the boss, King Dodongo, Link receives the Goron Ruby.

Jabu-Jabu's Belly

After receiving the Silver Scale from the Zoras, Link can find Ruto's Letter in Lake Hylia. In it, Ruto is asking for help from Jabu-Jabu's belly. After acquiring a fish as an offering to Lord Jabu-Jabu, Link is warped inside of his belly. He carries Ruto around for a while, fights mini-boss Big Octo and, after defeating dungeon boss Barinade, you will be rewarded with the Zora's Sapphire.
