Gohma is a boss that is encountered in the Dancing Dragon Dungeon, the fourth dungeon in Oracle of Seasons. Like its predecessors, it appears as a one-eyed arthropod. However, Gohma has an extra appendage, a large claw, that covers its eye, similar to a fiddler crab.

Strategy

Once Link has entered the room, Gohma will come crashing down from the ceiling, trying to land on top of Link. Once descended onto the ground, Gohma will start moving in a sideways pattern and also a back and forth pattern similar to a crab. Gohma starts attacking Link by charging at him and trying to grab him with its claw. If Gohma grabs Link, it will smash him against the ground twice before letting go of Link, being one of the most powerful attacks so far in Link's quest to save the Oracle of Seasons. Link can avoid this deadly attack by using the Roc's Feather to jump out of Gohma's way. In order for Link to attack Gohma's eye, he must equip his Sword to attack its claw.

Once dealt with ten hits from the sword, Gohma's claw will be destroyed, letting Link be able to attack its eye. Gohma will start momentarily summon its larva that can either crawl or jump towards Link. These larva will either deal damage when coming in contact with Link or latch onto him which will cause him to be slower. Link can easily defeat these larva, gaining Recovery Hearts and Mystical Seeds, by hitting them once with any of his items such as the sword, Boomerang, and Bombs or he can avoid them entirely. As Gohma moves around the room, it will briefly open its eye. Once Gohma has, Link can attack it with the dungeon item, the Slingshot. He can either use Ember Seeds, Scent Seeds, or Mystery Seeds, if the ability of this seed uses the Ember Seeds or the Scent Seeds, to shoot at Gohma's eye. Once dealt with five shots from the Slingshot, Gohma will be defeated. Alternatively, during the first phase, Link can shoot any of the three seeds when Gohma raises its claw before attempting to grab him, bypassing the second phase entirely. Once Link defeats Gohma, he is rewarded with a Heart Container and the fourth Essence of Nature, the Soothing Rain.

Alternative Stratagey

Gohma can also be defeated without cutting off the claw. Wait for Gohma to lift her claw, preparing to grab Link, then shoot her eye with the seed shooter. This method is extremely hard to do because Gohma will likely grab Link. Also, it takes more hits to defeat her this way. The one advantage is that Gohma will not summon the annoying larva, but this is also a disadvantage since no recovery hearts or seeds can be found.
