The Wooden Sword is the first sword Link gets in two games of the Legend of Zelda Series. Because of that, it is also the weakest sword in both games. It has appeared in the The Legend of Zelda and Twilight Princess.

Appearances

As stated above, the Wooden Sword has appeared in two different Zelda games.

The Legend of Zelda

The Wooden Sword is the first item available for Link to collect. While it is optional, if he doesn't pick it up the game becomes considerably more challenging. On the starting screen, there is a small cave ok the northern rock. Inside, the Old Man will say the legendary line, IT'S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE! TAKE THIS".[1] He will then give Link the Wooden Sword. Later in the game, it can be upgraded into the White Sword, and then onto the Magical Sword.

Twilight Princess

The Wooden Sword from Twilight Princess

The Wooden Sword is again the first sword Link receives in Twilight Princess. Link obtains the Wooden Sword from Rusl who repaired it and returned it to Link. Using this sword the player can practice all of the basic sword fighting skills on the training dummy just outside Link's House. This sword will remain in Link's inventory until after he rescues Talo who will them ask to borrow it. After the Twilight has covered the Eldin Province, Wolf Link discovers the broken remains of the Wooden Sword on the ground. It is from these remains which he picks up the Youths' Scent. This scent is used to track down the kidnapped children.

Trivia

In the Japanese version of The Legend of Zelda the Wooden Sword is just called, "Sword".
