Throughout his journey in Spirit Tracks, Link collects pieces of the Rail Map. The sections of the map are similar to the Sea Charts found in Phantom Hourglass in that they allow Link to travel to more areas of the world. When each part of the Rail Map is obtained, Spirit Tracks are restored within a certain realm.
Forest Rail Map
The Forest Rail Map is found in the second floor of the Tower of Spirits. This will restore some of the tracks that have disappeared in the Forest Realm. After completing the duet with Gage, more tracks are restored, allowing Link to reach the Forest Temple.
Snow Rail Map
The Snow Rail Map is found on the sixth floor of the Tower of Spirits. This section of the map will restore some of the tracks that had disappeared in the Snow Realm. Upon the completion of the duet with Steem, more tracks will be restored. This allows Link to reach the Snow Temple.
Ocean Rail Map
The Ocean Rail Map is found on the tenth floor of the Tower of Spirits. This portion of the map will restore only some of the tracks that have disappeared in the Ocean Realm. When the duet is complete with Carben, more tracks will be restored. This will grant Link access to the Ocean Temple.
Fire Rail Map
The Fire Rail Map is found on the sixteenth floor of the Tower of Spirits. This last section of the Rail Map will restore some of the tracks that have disappeared in the Fire Realm. When Link completes the duet with Embrose, additional tracks will be restored. This will finally grant Link access to the Fire Temple.
