Squirrels are recurring animals in The Legend of Zelda series.

A Link to the Past

Squirrels are present in the Master Sword's grove, and run across the path as Link enters.

GBA version

"It munches on nuts... What is it?"

In A Link to the Past (GBA), squirrels are a target in Q. Bumpkin's Riddle Quest. To answer the seventh riddle, Link must capture a squirrel with the Bug-Catching Net, place it in Bumpkin's basket and take it to him.

Twilight Princess

"Thank you for taking care of those bad guys! They made both the village and the forest a mess... They kidnapped the village children... But I know...you're not one of them. I can tell because you smell like the trees of Ordon... If you run into any trouble, try talking to the animals. We animals understand one another, so you'll be all right!"

— Squirrel, Twilight Princess

When Wolf Link first goes to the clearing with Link's House, he finds some bulblins there. On defeating them, a squirrel calls out to thank him and inform him that he can speak to animals.

A Link Between Worlds

As in A Link to the Past, squirrels are present in the Master Sword's grove.

Breath of the Wild

Main article: Bushy-Tailed Squirrel

The species of squirrel seen in Breath of the Wild are identified as Bushy-Tailed Squirrels. They drop acorns when killed.
