Playing Cupid[1], is a Side Quest from The Wind Waker.

Overview

As part of Lenzo's Pictograph Assistant side quest, one of the objectives was The Secret Couple, which required Link to take a snapshot of Anton and Linda exchanging eye contact. Lenzo will comment that he didn't even know the extent of their passion for one another. He thanks Link and tells him that he is proud to call Link his assistant.[2][3] This will give Link the Deluxe Picto Box.

When Link returns to Windfall Island, anytime after completing Dragon Roost Cavern, Anton can still be seen walking along his normal daily path, with Linda still standing near the town square.

While standing around, Linda will see a lot of people walk on by, including Anton. She wishes that someone would stop and notice her.[4] After Linda speaks with Lenzo, she has her her fortune told. Lenzo tells Linda that she needs to have her Pictograph taken, and then shown to the one who has captured her heart. This will cause true love to blossom.[5] She notices that Link has a Picto Box and will ask him to take a Pictograph of her.[6] She wants Link to capture her full body, as she wants to show off her outfit that she's wearing.[7] After taking the picture, she asks Link to take it to her admirer.[8] Linda then waits patiently, wondering when he will come, hoping he comes tomorrow.[9]

Anton will comment that everytime he walks by, Linda kind of gives him a look, although Anton doesn't quite know what it means.[10] He does know that there is a certain someone that he's had his eye for awhile, but he doesn't even know her name. Everytime he even thinks about her, his heart starts fluttering. It's a fealing that he's never had before.[11]

Link will first need to show a color photograph of Linda to Anton. Anton will immediately recognize the girl, as she is the one that he's had his eye on lately.[12][13] The picture really sets Anton off and finally gives him the courage to ask Linda out on a date.[14] Although Anton is super nervous as he still doesn't know her name, doesn't know if she's nice, or if she's currently seeing anybody.[15] Anton plans to ask her out for coffee, and if things seem to be going right, he's going to profess his love for her.[16]

Walkthrough

  • Take a Color Pictograph of Linda, showing her full outfit.
  • Show the Color Pictograph to Anton
  • Playing the Song of Passing to pass time to the following day and visit the couple at the Cafe Bar

Reward

After a full day cycle, Anton and Linda can later both be found at the Cafe Bar. Anton has finally worked up the courage to ask Linda on a date and it was the right move, as Linda likes him.[17][18] Linda comments that the two of them are going to start dating and asks Link if they make a delightful couple. She awards Link with a Piece of Heart.[19] She is so thankful that Link delivered her Pictograph to Anton, as it is what brought the two of them together.[20]
