South of the Village is a region of Koholint Island in Link's Awakening. The area consists of many cliffs, which can be climbed up to reach Mabe Village and down to find Toronbo Shores. Link must traverse this area in order to locate his sword after he washes up on the beach. It is inhabited primarily by Octoroks. The first dungeon can be found here.

Tail Cave

The first dungeon of Link's Awakening, Tail Cave, is located in the southeast of this area. Link can go here after first finding the Tail Key in the Mysterious Woods.
