The Mask of Truth is a recurring item from The Legend of Zelda series. It appears in Ocarina of Time and in Majora's Mask. It is used primarily for reading Gossip Stones, which can only be read if the reader is wearing the mask. It is unknown if there is more than one of these masks, but it is likely that there is, because the man in the Swamp Spider House couldn't have gotten the mask that Link had before in Ocarina of Time.

Appearances

Ocarina of Time

The Mask of Truth can be borrowed from the Happy Mask Shop in Castle Town after completing the Happy Mask Side Quest. If Link sells all four of the previously borrowed masks (Keaton Mask, Skull Mask, Spooky Mask and the Bunny Hood, he will be able to borrow the Mask of Truth along with the Goron Mask, Zora Mask, and Gerudo Mask. This mask can read the Gossip Stones scattered across Hyrule, and if Link talks to people with it on some will make sarcastic comments.

The Mask of Truth can also be worn in the Forest Stage, where the Deku Scrubs will give him a Deku Nut capacity upgrade. This can only be obtained before Link ever pulls the Master Sword from its resting place.

Majora's Mask

The Mask of Truth in Majora's Mask can be obtained from the resident in the Swamp Spider House if Link gets all 30 Gold Skulltula Spirits. It is also used to read Gossip Stones, but it can now also be used to read the minds of animals, if Link picks them up. This is useful in the Doggy Race, because Link can read the dogs' minds and can tell which one will win.
