Zelda Content
Powerline (p. 4)
In the Powerline section, there is a mention of the game Star Tropics. In talking about the main character Mike, he is mentioned as being destined to join the ranks of other Nintendo super heroes, like Link and Mario.
Player's Pulse (p. 7)
In the Video Spotlight, Robert LeGrand of Ocala, Florida talks about how he first discovered the NES with his brother-in-law, Michael. He talks about their accomplishments, having completed 58 different games, including The Legend of Zelda and The Adventure of Link.
Counselor's Corner (pp. 80-81)
Even more than 3 years after its release, there arefour answers to frequent questions for The Legend of Zelda in the Counselors' Corner. Two of them focusing on the Second Quest.
The Lost Woods and Lost Hills
- "How do I get through the Lost Woods and Lost Hills"
The Lost Woods and Lost Hills area areas that repeat forever, unless you know the correct way. To get through the Lost Woods, head North, West, South, and West. To get through the Lost Hills, simply go up four times in a row to get out of the Lost Hills to reach Level Five. In the Second Quest, Level Five is replaced with a Fairy Pond.
Finding Level 7
- "Where is Level 7 in the first quest and how do I get to the Tri-Force"
Level Seven ishidden beneath a pond that Link will need to use the Whistle to enter. This will drain the pond, revealing the entrance. Inside Level Seven, Link will need to feed the friendly Goriya, with some Enemy Bait. Later in the dungeon, Link can use a Bomb to blast open an entrance to a secret room, which corresponds with the 'eye', on the dungeon map. Inside the eye, there is a stairway that leads to the Red Candle.
Later, at the far top-right corner of the map, which is the 'top of the nose'. Link can defeat the Wallmasters and then push a block in the middle on the right, revealing a staircase.
Whistle in the Second Quest
- "Where is the Whistle in the Second Quest"
The Whistle in the Second Quest can be found in Level Two. The trick here is that Link can walk through hidden walls, without placing any bombs to break open a wall. Level Two looks like the Letter 'A'. In the room just above the center of the letter 'A', Link can walk down, through a fake invisble wall. This leads to a staircase, which will eventually lead to Link acquiring the Whistle.
Finding Later Levels in the Second Quest
- "Where are Levels Six, Seven, and Eight in the Second Quest"
Level Six can be found in the Graveyard. In the middle screen on the left, Link can use the Whistle to open the entrance to Level Six. Level Seven can be found just one screen left of where Level Eight was in the first quest. There are two trees next to eachother along the vertical column of trees. Burn the one on the left to reveal the entrance. Level Eight can be found one screen west of the Waterfall, near the north part of the Overworld. Use the Ladder to cross the river and a bomb, on the left side of the screen to find the entrance to the level.
Top 30 (pp. 86-88)
In this volumes Top 30, The Legend of Zelda drop down to the number 10 spot, while The Adventure of Link drops to number 21. The Legend of Zelda comes in with 2,541 points while Adventure of Link has 1,429 points. The Legend of Zelda makes it back onto the Dealers' Picks, while The Adventure of Link also makes it back onto the Pros' Picks.
