Why Your Game Paks Never Forget (pp. 28-31)

In this volume of Nintendo Power there is a special feature talking about the technology that goes into creating an NES Game Pak. There is discussion of MMCs, known as Memory Management Controllers. Early NES games including The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and Kid Icarus used this technology and it opened up vast new worls for the NES. A screenshot is shown of the original Legend of Zelda. The MMC1 chip was used in the Legend of Zelda and it allowed for screen scrolling in both a horizontal and vertical direction.

Player's Poll Contest (pp. 82-83)

n the Player's Poll Contest, prizes are shown including Valiant Comic Books. Comics from Super Mario Bros, Captain N The Game Master, and The Legend of Zelda are featured. The grand prize for the contest was to include you in the actual comic book, joining the cast of characters. The 2nd place prize included autographed copies of the valiant comics.

Top 30 (pp. 88-90)

In this volumes Top 30, The Adventure of Link tumbles down to the number 17 spot, while The Legend of Zelda bumps up to number 6. Legend of Zelda comes in with 2,787 points while Adventure of Link has 1,471 points. Neither game makes it on the Top 30 for the Dealers' Picks, and Adventure of Link also drops out of the Top 30 for the Pros' Picks.
