After Link receives a telepathic message from Princess Zelda, he awakens to see his uncle taking his sword and leaving their house, telling Link to stay put. However, Link ignores him and goes out after him. He finds a Hidden Path under a bush with an entrance into Hyrule Castle, and within the hallway he finds his uncle, severely injured. He gives Link his sword and tells him to protect Zelda in his stead. Then he disappears.
