"You got the Hero's New Clothes... What the...? Wow! They're really light..."
The Hero's New Clothes are an item that appears in The Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass.
Appearances
The Wind Waker
In The Wind Waker, the Hero's New Clothes are an unlockable item that only appears after completing the game once. After restarting the game on the same save file, Grandma gives Link these clothes instead of the classic Hero's Clothes. The clothes are described as being visible only to those who are honest, and Link is unable to see them.[1][2] With them, Link is seen in his Outset Island clothes throughout the entire game, due to the actual outfit being invisible.
Phantom Hourglass
The Hero's New Clothes also appear in Phantom Hourglass as the first item in the game's trading sequence, which in the end grants Link the Swordsman's Scroll. Link receives it from the Man of Smiles as a thank you for rescuing him, but like in The Wind Waker, he is unable to see anything.[3] He tells Link that they were worn by an ancient hero.[4] When Link takes them to Nyeve, he immediately "senses" the Hero's New Clothes.[5] If Link gives him the Hero's New Clothes, Nyeve exchanges it for the Kaleidoscope.[6][7]
