Ocarina of Time

In Ocarina of Time, this song is one of the first songs you will probably get. You can get it just after you've met Princess Zelda and learnt Zelda's Lullaby. Go to Lon Lon Ranch and talk to the girl singing in the paddock with the horses. She will thank you for waking up her father and introduce herself as Malon. Pull out your Ocarina in front of her and she will teach you this song.

But learning the song is the easy part. To free Epona, so you can ride her, you must go back to Lon Lon Ranch as Adult Link and pay Ingo to go in and ride a horse around for a bit. Use Epona's Song to call Epona. After your time's up, go talk to Ingo while you're still on Epona and he will ask if you want to race. Say yes, and you will have a single lap race around the fence of the paddock. If you win, he ask for a rematch. Say yes, win again, and he will go mad and lock the gates. Use Epona to jump over them (it can be tough, it might take a few tries) and you're free! So is Epona! Now you can use Epona's Song to call Epona anytime you're in Hyrule Field.

Majora's Mask
As an Adult, Link can pay Ingo to ride horses. If he plays this song, Epona will come to him and he can ride Epona. Ingo will challenge Link to a race for the price of 50 rupees. If Link does not use Epona, it is impossible to win the race. After winning the race, Ingo will be infuriated and bet Epona on a double-or-nothing rematch. Upon winning, Ingo will lock Link in the ranch. Link can use Epona to jump the fences to Hyrule Field.

In Majora's Mask, you can get Epona's Song after you have completed the Snowhead Temple. On the First day, go to the Bomb shop in Clock Town and, with the Goron Mask on, talk to the Goron. He will ask you if you would like to buy a Powder Keg for 50 rupees. Say yes. Then go to the big boulder the men have been digging at on Milk Road and throw the Powder Keg at it. The Powder Keg will blow up the boulder. Run in to Romani Ranch.
Majora's Mask
Run towards the buildings where you will see Epona and a girl who looks suspiciously like Malon. She will introduce herself as Romani and tell you a story about some aliens called 'They'.

She will ask you to do some targeting practice on a horse with your bow. Ride around and shoot the balloons with your arrows. If you finish in two minutes, she will teach you Epona's Song. Now you can call Epona in Termina Field and certain areas around it.
If Link uses the Powder Keg to access Romani Ranch on the First Day, Romani will tell Link that she is practicing to prepare to defend the ranch against beings she simply refers to as They. Link is then offered an opportunity to ride Epona and practice shooting balloons. If Link manages to shoot all the balloons, Romani will teach Epona's Song to Link.

Epona's Song is an Ocarina Song in both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. It also makes an appearance in Twilight Princess whenever Link uses either the Horse Whistle or Horse Grass.

Uses

In both games, Epona's Song is used to call Epona and to fill a bottle with milk (if played while standing next to some cows). Also, it is required to call Epona so you can jump over the fence into the Great Bay area in Majora's Mask.

Ocarina of Time

After meeting with Princess Zelda, Malon will teach Link the song, though it doesn't hold much use to him. When played, Epona will follow Link shortly only to run to Malon's side after.

Majora's Mask

If Link uses the Powder Keg to access Romani Ranch on the First Day, Romani will tell Link that she is practicing to prepare to defend the ranch against beings she simply refers to as They. Link is then offered an opportunity to ride Epona and practice shooting balloons. If Link manages to shoot all the balloons, Romani will teach Epona's Song to Link.
