The Broken Giant's Knife, as the name suggests, is the shattered part of the Giant's Knife. In the Goron City, Link can purchase the Giant's Knife for 200 Rupees at Medigoron's Blade Store. However, after striking it eight times, it breaks, and turns out to be completely useless. It breaks earlier if hit four times at enemies. Link can still use this inadequate sword, though it takes a large amount of time to defeat enemies with it. Its quality is equivalent to the Kokiri Sword. Once Link completes the Trading Sequence, he is given the Biggoron's Sword, which is identical to the Giant's Knife, but never breaks.
